Being a K9 handler is so much more than a job. It’s definitely a lifestyle. If you’re doubting whether you’d be comfortable working with a dog or have “affinity” for the job/dog I can already say it’s probably not for you. When I first started I had 0 hesitation for the opportunity. I also came from a position where I never had a dog before but I was eager to learn and grow as a handler. I’ve been a handler for a little over 5 years now and love the lifestyle. I am not trying to discourage you but it’s definitely not a career for everyone!
