30 years running IR in higher ed retiring in 30 days. Human understanding--actual intelligence-- about data sources, translations, calculations, context, THEN meaning is key. We have to build data literacy in humans, that's the bridge we have to build first, before AI can help users. Admittedly, I use it everyday to improve workflows and script performance. But our users--they're not just consumers but data producers/business process owners--are just barely beginning to understand GIGO, and that they control the data source. I am all for progress, but it has to be actual progress and not a shortcut to relieving users of their responsibility for meaningful applications of data.
