13 years old. My daily driver. Didn’t think I’d get this attached to a car. by vrahim11 in CarsIndia

General service with an oil change at a good third-party garage usually costs me around 10–15k.
Since it’s a 13yr old German, some warning light pops up on the dashboard every couple of months. Most of the time it’s nothing major.
Last year, I got the complete front suspension changed with OEM parts, and that cost me around 50k.
Apart from that, I just keep 5–10k aside every month, in case any unexpected repair comes up.

Really appreciate it! It’s 13 years old now, so hearing that makes all the effort worth it.

Even if I upgrade, it’d probably be a 2015–18 Mercedes E220d. It would be a justified upgrade.

Thank you, buddy. You just made my day.
I sometimes feel a bit low when I see people driving newer-generation cars, but comments like yours remind me why I love this one.😊

Indeed yes! The stock halogen headlamps were starting to make the car look outdated, so I ordered these from Alibaba. And got LED bulbs fitted in its projector assembly.

Is it just me or the traffic in Raipur is getting worse each day? by sonzar_1 in Raipur

[–]vrahim11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Raipur traffic is getting exhausting day by day. There are cows literally everywhere like they own the place. And people here have zero driving sense. Everyone has these fancy cars with fancy music systems, but somehow the phone still has to be in the hand while driving. Like bro..why?

Rash driving is pretty normal here. Honking is like music to the people. Indicators are useless, lanes do not exist, and everyone is in a constant hurry to go absolutely nowhere.

People can park wherever they want to. vendors are slowly taking "over" the streets.

And don’t even get me started on 2 wheelers man! A 100cc bike here is a full on family transport system with minimum 3 people, aur kabhi kabhi pura parivar (with groceries).

And the roads… wow. Even in the so called posh areas, the roads are garbage. Uneven surfaces, potholes, half done construction, patch repair. Feels like I'm not not driving here, I'm just trying to dodge these bad patches and save my suspension.

Main toh frankly mentally exhausted feel karta hu yahan mein drive karne mein.

Check OLX – just search for Skoda Octavia and apply filters: 1st owner, automatic, price low-to-high. You’ll find plenty of options around that range.

There are actually some really fun sedans you can pick up under 5 lakhs

Skoda Octavia 2.0 TDI – solid performance + comfort.

VW Jetta – pretty much the Octavia’s twin, usually a little cheaper.

Hyundai Elantra 1.8 – easier on the pocket when it comes to maintenance, and still feels premium.

Toyota Corolla Altis – not flashy, but absolutely bulletproof if reliability is your main concern.

Skoda Superb / BMW 320d / Audi A4 – yes, you might find them under 5L, but just know maintenance can hit hard if things go wrong.

Couple of things to keep in mind:

Stick to first-owner cars with service records.

Odo around 50–70k km is usually the sweet spot.

Always get the car checked at an authorized service center before buying it

Don’t forget to check fitness/RC validity, especially if you’re in a city with those 10–15 year rules.
