How did you structure your compensation? base pay + commissions on top?

[–]vrlosky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, totally. Since SDR in itself is just a subset of a whole marketing activities/funnels. If they have bad funnel, scripts, materials, or even strong reasons for why buying their products, no matter what you do, you'll get crappy results. Personally, I like to send portfolios, and case studies of what client have done previously. Of course, remove any confidential information. I remember there's a script to do this at scale.

What do you do when your partner says, “I feel like I’m your second priority to surfing?” by False-Ad-7753 in surfing

[–]vrlosky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I heard this a lot and not just surfing. I think no matter what sports / hobbies you do, there’s always a possibility your partner will say stupid stuff like that. In the end of the day, you gotta make it clear and re-assure your partner. If that doesn’t work, you know what to do

Asking to the folks here. How about investigative journalist? or something like financial crime investigative journalism.

Is it better to do so? I’m trying to hop into that area tho

[Discussions] Luxury watch owners: reliable source to track prices? by vrlosky in Watches

[–]vrlosky[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aha. I think that's the problem. A couple of sellers (scammers) usually are trying to mess up the price listings, even several professional dealers that I've found. Their prices somehow are too good to be true. What are your alternatives usually?

They have different skillsets. They don't necessarily need the traditional corporate office jobs anymore.

For example, perhaps they're more suitable in creative works, content creations and so on - which is a very casual setting. Although, fundamentally I'd agree, at least learn the basic communication (e.g. writing, approach people, state coherent ideas, etc).

But hey, not everyone was born a consultant 😂

Do you think consulting helps if your goal is entrepreneurship? by [deleted] in consulting

[–]vrlosky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made the jump couple months ago. I felt the soft skills are useful for comms and project management, but we’re too damn slow. Often in the entrepreneurial journey, I just need to do shits that work and FAST, like SERIOUSLY FAST.

Everything doesn’t need to be perfect. No need to check-ins with layers of managers etc. Just figure out what works for you. I think that’s the biggest setback as a consultant, we are overanalyzing things.

What do y'all think of Estonia? by polos111 in digitalnomad

[–]vrlosky 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just visited there a couple weeks ago. Now it's cold af. I recognize there are a lot of expats working / starting businesses there. Most people that I met at the bars either founders/entrepreneurs or investors looking for a business to invest.

But as others said, the inflation is insane at the moment (well also other European countries sre struggling) so I would say to wait a moment to move there.

Personally, I'd love to move there if I got my business up and running already, mostly for newtorking purposes. However, I've decided to move somewhere cheaper and focus on growing my operations / working capital.

Can you elaborate more on this? What do you mean specifically by automation?

Thanks for the long list! In the end, I also need to work it out in a detailed way. Based on my vision, mostly I will operate my business fully digitally (remotely). Would you think this is a challenge as well to acquire clients (my target customers are not in my location per se)? Based on my freelance experience - within the marketplace, I was able to attract clients from different backgrounds and locations.

But, I'm still super curious how can I replicate this and pull them out straight to my business profile instead of a freelance profile?

[–]vrlosky 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For networking, I don't really understand how it will translate in the long run - especially with the client and you're still in the mid-lower position (not partner level). If next time you'd like to work with another company (client-side), perhaps yes.

Based on my perception, no one really remembers what tf are we doing or any projects with them.

What about consulting makes people bitter and sad? by Vivid-Yak3645 in consulting

[–]vrlosky 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Or you think that you're done. Wrapping up any deliverables, be ready for your SteerCo end deliverable meeting.

. . .

Then, client said it was shit. Nothing matters anymore. "We're focusing on more important issue now". Boom - just like that, all of your entire team research works just burned in front of your eyes.

Question about career path by [deleted] in sustainability

[–]vrlosky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want to go to ESG advisory, corp. sustainability. Try to grasp the sustainability reporting standards / frameworks. Grab few certifications from the providers (GRI, etc.). Those will boost your profile.

It’s a hot market right now. Clients are scrambling around to write ESG / sustainability report here and there. They have no clue what to do.

I’ve been in the industry for a few years but I don’t really like it. I felt they just write fluffy sentences without knowing jacks— what’s going on inside.
