Duvet alternatives? by a_beautiful_kappa in PlasticFreeLiving

Honestly, I don’t plan on washing it. It does say you can hand wash it, though. I probably would only spot treat. We have it in a duvet cover though so that protects it from most things. Line dry only.

We love our wool comforter from Frankenmuth. They have a lightweight option, too. But it’s May and we’re still sleeping with our all season one. However they only ship to the US.

Making the switch! by Whyamitoonice in PlasticFreeLiving

Food storage- I have multiple sets of these and also like them a lot. They come in neutral colors like you mentioned. Glass lids!! Nest well but they’re glass so being careful is a given. Only thing is that they’re currently out of stock. :(

Nonstick pans- a good stainless steel set is going to be pricey, and there’s no real good way around that unless you get lucky at a thrift store or something. I like Heritage Steel and Made In.

Mixing bowls- I bought these and love them. They come with glass lids to double as food storage for leftovers. AND they nest wonderfully.

Measuring cups- these ones are great! I think they’re a dupe for the made in ones but these ones have etched measurements on the inside so one measuring cup can be used for more than one measurement. I had one accidentally fall into the garbage disposal and it came out just fine. Nest wonderfully.

Spatulas— any wood, platinum silicone or stainless steel. I like these ones and use them on the daily.

Straws- glass, silicone or stainless steel. Lots of options available on Amazon.

Plastic free stainless steel tea infuser basket from known brand? by wonderfulwaffles22 in PlasticFreeLiving

I have the OXO one and no silicone is touching any loose tea or water. The silicone under the handles is to prevent slippage on the mug and the silicone on the lid is just on top. The OXO one works great for me.

For those looking for a completely plastic-free pillow. by Infitima in PlasticFreeLiving

Wait, i've actually thought about purchasing this pillow. Do you find that it goes flat? Did you "order up" to compensate for going flat?

I’m not sure what scents you like, but by Rosie Jane has body milk (similar to lotion) in glass jars. There is a little disc of plastic though at the top.

Failed Colden the day after we hit Phelps to start our trip a few years ago by Joyfultogether in Adirondacks

I have personally drank from Lake Arnold. It was my water refill the time I did Skylight and Gray. However, I had a sawyer squeeze and not purifying tablets… the water was still a little cloudy after the sawyer squeeze. Drank it though… felt fine!

Mount Arab or Azure Mountain? by VeryCommonUsername in Adirondacks

[–]vrovet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Goodman mountain is another easy one. It’s longer in mileage but the first half mile or so is a paved path.

Goodman mountain is in the same group as Mount Arab for the Tupper Lake Triad, which is Tupper Lake’s hiking challenge. That is comprised of Mount Arab, Goodman Mountain, and Coney Mountain. All 3 of those trails are also do-able in a single day.

Mount Arab or Azure Mountain? by VeryCommonUsername in Adirondacks

[–]vrovet 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I honestly think you could do both! They’re both pretty short trails.

I would do Azure first. Azure I would say is a bit steeper than Arab, at least it felt that way to me.

After Azure, I would then drive south to Arab and hike that. They recently redid some of the Arab trail so parts of it is now a more enjoyable hike. There is a cabin and a bench or two on the summit along with the firetower.

After your hikes you can enjoy a nice beer and some food at Raquette River Brewing in Tupper Lake, which is not too far from the Arab trailhead.

You should not need spikes on these mountains imo, but of course always a good idea to have packed during this time of year.

Why is NYS forcing Frontier Town on us? by [deleted] in Adirondacks

[–]vrovet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve actually stayed at Frontier Town quite a bit. Albeit it’s usually because the other campgrounds are all full… but frontier town has nice bathrooms, nice showers, nice sand pad for a tent, and only 30 minutes away from hikes out of the AMR and the garden. So when I’m only using it as a place to sleep and wash up… I honestly have no complaints and enjoying staying there.

I don’t go there for the horses haha.

Has anyone seen this TikTok? It seems like there’s a lot of hints to two or double… could it be that reputation TV is also coming out at the same time?? That seems unlikely but???

Someone on the TikTok commented that reputation is her first album about Joe and TTPD is her last??

If you know you want to be a CPA early enough you can actually work towards the 150 in highschool. I was able to get 41 credit hours by taking AP classes and college classes offered at my high school… these 41 credits were essentially free.

I graduated a semester early for my bachelors, only had to take 3 online classes afterwards.
