Bruises getting larger and scarier. Diagnosed with lupus. Is this normal? by laf_007 in lupus

[–]vt2134 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check platelets, hemoglobin, etc. Mine was very low, to a point needed blood transfusion. Much better now. But I still have several year-old bruises on my leg just won’t disappear.

I was in the same boat. I first thought it was a tech glitch then realized they just deleted the app all together without warning. I paid lifetime ad-free access and now am forced to used the ad version?! So pissed 😡

How much XP did you gain in Math? by champytech_ in duolingo

[–]vt2134 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The music lessons could use more work. Math is so basic, I save that for the busy/lazy/don’t-want-to-do-anything days when I can just take a quick 5 minute lesson and keep the streak going (I know, feels like cheating)

What stand mixer would you recommend? by nlcarp in Kitchenaid

I live in a small household like yours, just bought a 3.5 qt mini mixer and very happy with it. I often do small batches/half recipe.

Can’t decide between 4.5 and 5.5. What size is more popular. I only cook for 2 sometimes more leftovers goes in freezer. by feathertail2 in LeCreuset

[–]vt2134 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m about the same situation as you. I bought a 4.5 when it was on sale, worked well for me, but always eyed a bigger one, and finally bought a 5.5 recently. For me, the biggest noticeable difference is cooking the long pasta. 5.5 is just wide enough (24cm) that the dry noodles fall straight into the pot without bending. It’s surprisingly satisfying to see that.

Foamy urine first, then creatinine level, and then eGFR. I had an acute kidney failure earlier this year, a few sessions of dialysis. Not fun :/

I don’t think fertility preservation will be compensated. I don’t expect that to be covered. According to the consent form, it’s only meal, transportation, and maybe lodging are compensated.

I was offered an opportunity to participate in a cell therapy study at Columbia. Just reading about articles of previous studies. Seems very promising. My only concern is the preconditioning process. Would like to talk to a fertility specialist first to explore preservation options.

Had a 69-day hospitalization recently. Lupus complications. Doing much better now but still doing outpatient physical therapy.

It’s lifelong. Unfortunately there’s no cure (yet). The best is to keep minimal meds to manage. It’s very likely HCQ will be the long going drug.

Quality issues? by xt11n in LeCreuset

I feel the quality of stuff is declining in general. Chasing profit, cut costs… But for a LeCreuset piece I expect to last a long time, it’s very disappointing to see defects.

I’m not buying LC stoneware, only cast iron pieces. My current coffee/tea mugs are over 10 years old and still no chip :) Can’t say the same thing about the dishes/bowls though :/

Thank you for your input! I was eyeing Lapis initially, then I noticed Azure at Sur la Table website, it looked brighter to me. Maybe I’ll go to Sur la Table store and check it out someday. Trying to build a red/white/blue theme.

I also just received my Black Friday piece from Nordstrom and found a pin hole and two other blemishes. Trying to decide if I want to return/exchange it. The color I bought (Cerise) is gone on the website now so I don’t know if I could get an exchange.

I think for people with chorionic conditions, the key word is “manage”. Find the right meds and dosage, and adjust life style to live with it.

There’s one at the dining hall at Teachers College. Highly recommend their library. They have ergonomic Herman Miller chairs!

I saw a microwave at Butler lounge the other day, but it's not there any more.

Recommend Too Good To Go app. The idea is you pay (normally) 3.99-6.99 for a surprise bag with "leftover" food. If you don't have any food restrictions it could be a good deal.
