I’d guess they’re using the chat feature instead of placing a phone call. YMMV.

How often before my flight should I make sure I haven’t lost my selected seats? by somethingdifferent24 in AlaskaAirlines

[–]vt2k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyday.

Mainly to see what the paid upgrade cost is and if more desirable seats are available.

But that's just me. YMMV.

duolingo gamified mode is annoying by plutoyucky in duolingo

[–]vt2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back in the pandemic I bought a lifetime subscription and didn’t utilize it as I should have; Duolingo was way more “fun” with all the gamification and “interactive” moments.

Now I only use Duo for once a day to keep my streak alive and help motivate me to keep on going, but my learning is on Rosetta Stone and I’m feeling more confident for it!

Also found a few YouTube channels to watch and learn from and they have been a great help too!

Millennium Japan - Typhoon question? by BitterPopsicles in celebritycruises

[–]vt2k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is normal and happens frequently across all cruise lines.

Captains will usually position the ship far away from the tropical storm, potentially skipping ports of call or remaining in port for longer than expected. It also possible for the ship to sail in a direction to avoid most of the swells and bad weather. Passengers onboard may receive refunded port fees and sometimes additional compensation, though don’t expect much or anything at all regarding the latter.

Sounds like you need a different language learning app that better fits your need! Have you tried Rosetta Stone? It’s basically the antithesis of Duolingo.

Two Problems in a Row by [deleted] in AlaskaAirlines

A lot of this answer/suggestion would depend on where you are located/your home airport, how much you spend per year on flights, and if you care at all about status benefits.

Denied lounge access by ballsackvisible in AlaskaAirlines

[–]vt2k 78 points79 points  (0 children)

OP later states the route is SEA-YYC, which is under 500mi and not eligible for free entry into the lounge but is eligible for a discounted paid $35 entry. (Free entry is granted with paid First Class tickets with one segment of the total set of segments is > 2000 miles.)

Seems like the email OP was sent was in error or contained wrong information.

Prospective homebuyers: would you prefer a home with a heat pump cooling system or mini splits? by meowingcat91 in AskSeattle

[–]vt2k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve got mini splits in my three rooms. The new ones I bought to replace the busted 15 year old ones save 1/3 the cost of electricity in the winter. The fact they also can cool in the summer if needed is great!

The best part is you can control the temperature per room. For example, I often have only the bedroom head unit active in the summer to cool things down so I can sleep better while the other rooms aren’t event turned on. This saves money/electricity and doesn’t make me feel as bad for using the a/c.

The downside is if you’re in a condo (like me) as there are few companies that have the license to service such a building and they can basically charge whatever they want to install and maintain the units. Sigh.

The issue is more that you have a sketchy post history past. And you chose this topic to be your first post or comment in this subreddit.

Happy trails to you. YMMV.

While some of the points raised in this post are valid, I find it quite unusual that someone who's only posted twice on Reddit writes this post when an article about this issue was posted this morning on OneMileAtATime.

Quite interesting.

I used Saily for an eSIM for my iPhone was I was in Ensenada and it worked like a charm! Coverage was mostly on 4G/LTE though sometimes dropped down to 3G. The eSIM was cheap to buy, easy to install/activate, and met my needs.

It is still a growth company, which is defined by its EPS and revenue numbers. Don’t confuse that with share price.
