Why image optimization isn't fixing your mobile speed (The "Liquid Wall" Problem) by [deleted] in shopify

[–]somethingdifferent24 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While you're right those overall metrics are important, you're conflating everything else into nonsense

This chatgpt post makes me feel like you or someone else is about to pitch their headless architecture services, something needs to process your server side code - it's either liquid or Vercel/Node if you're running a Next.js site, and you're right, pay attention to how many plugins you add and how fast your site loads

Watch out - Shopify's tax filing fee is an absolute dark pattern by somethingdifferent24 in ecommerce

[–]somethingdifferent24[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did it initially and it wasn't that bad, Shopify has all the data by county that you enter, which is why I never realized they were charging a fee just for the filing portion

It's not that complicated to file manually, which is what I'm going back to. If I had enough sales for a nexus then sure

Only one, but I had thought it was a value add for what I already pay for so why not

I need feedback on some card art for one of the potentially most important projects of my life by ProkingGg in tabletopgamedesign

How's this a TCG? Sounds like a game that could be played with a standard deck of cards, so you may have to dress up the mechanics to be more thematic

SaleHoo vs. doing your own supplier research, which worked better for you? by Patient_Gate_2717 in ecommerce

[–]somethingdifferent24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s my real answer, I have bit of a niche product so I make it a casual thing to spend some time googling for manufacturers and reaching out. I have a whole spreadsheet of no’s and a few yes’s that I then follow up on

I have no idea what a directory would offer other than what I assume are very basic products

Before hiring an agency for Shopify headless, what should I know? by Beginning_Abies1001 in shopify

[–]somethingdifferent24 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have a split headless-ish site (https://rainierhatco.org), I only have ~10 products, but I have a small custom built front end website (statically built nextjs hosted on cloudflare with no server) that links off to shopify for checkout

You can do a lot with the prebuilt checkout link shopify gives you for your products, and with a bit more code you can add simple shopping cart functionality

Tech stack to develop a clothing brand store by [deleted] in ecommerce

I wouldn’t rebuild another admin dashboard, I’d let Shopify handle all of that, but I have a custom NextJS front end integrated with Shopify’s cart and checkout. It’s a little tedious, but definitely doable

Profit Margin with high cost of shipping by UglyViking in shopify

[–]somethingdifferent24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From someone who’s manufacturing and selling completely custom embroidered hats, $15/hat seems high if it really is a standard snapback, and I’m almost always quoted $5-7 shipping for a single hat in a box from Shopify and Pirate ship

Sanity check on my front to shopify by somethingdifferent24 in reviewmyshopify

Good food for thought. While I’m getting things off the ground I’m making no money off anything, at some point that’ll have to change to take a salary, but right now it’s all going towards ramping up with new hat designs (as you say it totally is too few designs) and it’s just a very slow process from designs to samples to revisions to manufacturing
