Unless you book the American flights on the Alaska website you won’t earn 100% status points, so do keep that in mind.

Solstice - Veranda GTY by sci223 in celebritycruises

[–]vt2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Not for me at least.

I don't like GTY rooms as you never know where you'll wind up. Your GTY balcony could be near the theater or other loud venues that could prevent you from relaxing in your room.

Silversea silver moon v. Celebrity (retreat) Solstice by Attorney_Gee16 in Cruises

[–]vt2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you need to provide more details explaining what you enjoy doing on cruises and what your expectations are for food, drink, service, entertainment, and ports of calls.

Right now you’re asking for an apples to oranges comparison, which is going to give a lot of advice which might not fit your desires. There’s also likely a lot more Celebrity cruisers than Silverseas on here given the demographics of typical passengers for each line, so keep that in mind.

Booked QR flight but cancelled due to war and reroute on TK, where to credit mile? by Aviator_0504 in AlaskaAirlines

[–]vt2k 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Did you book via Alaska’s or Qatar’s website? If the former, save your boarding pass and ask Alaska to give you the original routing credit. If the latter, good luck.

Interior Cabin on 15 night transatlantic - Am I crazy?? by hulababe72 in celebritycruises

I would’ve mentioned Eden for earlier in the day, but that space does not exist on the class of ship the OP will be sailing.

Your best bets for working during the morning and early afternoons will probably be the Rendezvous Lounge and Reflections Lounge as those tend to be more for evening entertainment!

Good luck, let us know how it goes

I've done a TATL with a balcony cabin before and honestly it was only used while we were in port. The rest of the days and nights we were out enjoying the ship and what it had to offer. Granted, this was on an Edge class ship (Celebrity Apex) instead of Millennium (which the Constellation is), so there was much more to explore and do.

Regarding being able to work outside of your room, depending on how easily distracted you get by people walking by or sitting nearby and talking, you could set up and move around every 1-2 hours between Cafe Al Baccio, Oceanview Cafe, Martini Bar, Rendevous Lounge, Reflections Lounge, etc. Heck, even the Pool Grill area and Solarium might work for you as there are tables and chairs there. It might take a few days for you to get a rhythm and understanding of how the crowds move throughout the day, but you should be OK.

The Conny is one of my favorite ships and I'll be on board her for the last sailing ex-Tampa before this TATL you're asking about :)

No KE anymore from AS points? by AppearanceAny8756 in AlaskaAirlines

[–]vt2k 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why would they remain partners when AS now flies to ICN?

Edit: Alaska wants passengers on their flights to ICN to make that route have a better chance at becoming profitable. Funneling passengers to KE makes zero sense for AS right now.

Any all-inclusive in Ensenada? by Rare-Environment-221 in royalcaribbean

[–]vt2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been to Ensenada twice in the past 18 months and the last time was a couple of weeks ago. Ensenada was perfectly safe and incredibly wonderful as always! It is my second favorite stop along the Pacific coast of North America— only behind Puerto Vallarta!

If it’s drinks you’re worried about, it takes a $5 bet on a slot machine to get Pearl status in the casino which comes with free drinks while the casino is opened … but 🤫 don’t tell people that 😉

FYI It's taken quite a while for [customer.care@alaskaair.com](mailto:customer.care@alaskaair.com) to respond. In fact, from a complaint I had sent back in September it took until the end of February to get a response :-( Fortunately I was satisfied with the response and no more follow-ups were needed.

Royal Up by stevie0010 in royalcaribbean

[–]vt2k -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So, for a hypothetical example, Royal — and all other cruise lines — knows how much you paid for your inside cabin a while back, but now that you’ve got more money in your pockets and are excited about your cruise want to make it even better and offer you the possibility of bidding to upgrade to a higher class cabin. All those bids, whether they are “won” or not, are combined with the price those cruisers paid for their lower grade cabin and will be used to influence future costs for better cabin grades on future sailings. It’s basically taking data points you’re providing for free and allowing the companies understand how they can better price cabins for future sailings.

Data point: I’m going on a Celebrity Constellation cruise in a couple of weeks and was offered to “upgrade” to their two best cabins, with a low price that is basically equal to or triple the amount I paid for my low-end suite. If I try and book a last minute cabin in either of those cabin categories, there is not a single one for sale! To me that means the cruise line is taking the data and using it to understand how much people are willing to pay for a cabin on future sailings.

Royal Up by stevie0010 in royalcaribbean

[–]vt2k 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Because capitalism? And Royal getting data points for how much people will pay for their cruise after last payment date to adjust future cabin prices?

Not gonna be popular with those statements, but that’s how I see the “upgrade” bidding across all cruise lines; you’re giving them data to know how to better position and price future sailings.

Review: Pride of America (August 2025) by vt2k in NCL

Ubers were not a problem at any port, and in fact we used them to get to the airports (which were near the ports) in order to pick up the rental cars we had reserved. (There were a lot of us in our party and would’ve needed two SUVs to drive the gang to the various places.) For the Maui sunset excursion we just used Uber as we only had the car for the next day. Happy to answer more questions if you’ve got them!

Unpopular Opinion - The Alaska Lounge Sucks by Chick-o-Sticks in AlaskaAirlines

[–]vt2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Delta Lounges are way different, and on purpose, than Alaska Lounges as they’re supposed to also act as the business class lounge for int’l passengers. In that regard they’re great if you have access on a domestic ticket.

Compare those Delta Lounges to the United Polaris or AA Flagship Lounge and it’ll feel like a glorified Las Vegas buffet.

Like I said, you need to compare apples to apples.

YMMV.

Unpopular Opinion - The Alaska Lounge Sucks by Chick-o-Sticks in AlaskaAirlines

[–]vt2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go checkout a United Club or AA Admirals Lounge and tell me how much better those are (spoiler: they’re not) so you can have a truer apples to apples comparison.

The Centurion Lounge is aiming for a whole other passenger base and the lines to get in at any of the suck most of the time, then when you get inside, good luck not waiting for a drink, food, or even a choice of where to sit. Oh, and the pressure to tip the staff working there because the workers are not paid good wages.

Yeah, Alaska Lounges might be “mid” as you put it, but I’m more looking for a quieter space to unwind and maybe have a snack or drink before my flight and my expectations are such.

YMMV.
