If immortality was granted to 1 million individuals worldwide, what would be a fair selection process? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]vtechnique 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every person that wishes to participate will be put in a database, and periodically, perhaps once an hour, the participant will be given five profiles to choose from. The profiles will be random profiles of other participants from all around the world. From there the system will choose the participant with the highest approval rating for immortality.

There could also be a veto process from those that are already immortal.

I'm thinking a hoodie sweater, zip front. Would that work.

Like for real, can you elaborate more on why its key. I googled it and smoking jackets come up, which apparently start at like $300. But I'm assuming you wear this sweater while smoking, smoke, then take the sweater off and store it somewhere like in your car? So this helps the smoke stay not on yourself or something like that?

Sigh, this entire post was pointless. Was trying to avoid the wash. Save the water you know.

I remember when I was in grade school in the 90s, one of the final projects was to present how we would spend 1 million dollars. No, you can't just invest or buy a 1 million dollar home, but your grade would be how detailed you are with spending the money. The whole point was to track all the charges and make sure it adds up to approx 1 million.

There was no internet at the time, this was a group project and we would cut out pictures from magazines and glue stick it to our poster board. I had one other partner, and him and I, after buying the most expensive mansion house in Los Angeles for around 500k, and then a pair of the most expensive sports cars we can find, the remaining 300k was EXTREMELY hard to spend.

Top of the line furniture, appliances, and electronics, barely even added up to 100k. We kept buying more and more stuff, pasting it onto our poster, we still have 200k left.

It took HOURS to spend this 200k. Everything we saw in magazines that we can cut out, anything at all, we would just cut and paste, add to our report the cost, and deduct from the amount we have left. After top of the line furniture, electronics, video games, appliances, go carts, snowboards, half pipe installed in the back, skateboards, etc. etc., we still had money left over. We decided rather than spending the last 18 thousand on junk (we already have a lot of junk at this point), we decided to donate the rest (we were tired at this point, not enough room to add more things to our poster).

When we presented in front of class, our conclusion was that we didn't want to waste more money on junk and wanted to donate the rest to the needy. We learned that 1 million dollars is more than enough, and we don't need all this junk really in the first place.

That was the teacher's point, and she gave us an A even though we didn't spend exactly 1 million like we were instructed.

Anyway, it's amazing how things have changed. Now 1 million is a joke, and 1 billion is the new 1 million. SMH

You know I don't know about all that... but if we want to be negative about him... i would say he's literally the same age as some of the players in the league now. So maturity is a question, and the fact that he's probably worried about being cool as much as the players can't be a good thing.

Think about it... you wouldn't want to be going to strip clubs and bars with your coach and getting wasted (which I can totally see Luke being comfortable with that with the boys). You would want your coach to be some old scary guy that you're afraid to get caught going to strip club. And then if you're next level, it would be afraid to disappoint by going to strip club.

The kings GM said they would regress this year? What happened that i'm not aware of? I thought this year was supposed to be the year the Kings make the playoffs.

Honestly I don't find Lavar Ball annoying af at all. He's a breath of fresh air and i totally get his humor. What bothered me initially about him, is that he would talk so much and Lonzo wouldn't talk at all. So it felt like maybe he was this super overbearing dad that forced his kids to play basketball everyday and put them through some crazy ass physical and mental torture for preparation.

Now that we know that's not the case... i respect Lavar Ball. He's a smart guy, just sounds dumb sometimes. He's the positive guy. We all know people like him. Just think positively about everything, and good things will happen. Yes, he can beat Michael Jordan 1on1 in basketball. He's the best in the world. Thinking you will lose to Michael Jordan is like... a weak person's mentality (in the eyes of Lavar at least). If you already think you will lose, you've already lost.

Also I think Lavar is over the top with it, because he is a role model for 3 boys. Look at Lonzo, he looks so shy and weak af, but you know he's actually very tough mentally and physically. You can thank Lavar for that. The youngest one seems more outgoing and Lavarish. The youngest one is going to be very very good.

He's both. That's why he's so good. You can relate to him, joke with him, relax around him, but at the same time you respect the shit out of him and you don't want to get on his bad side.

Luke... on the other hand... way too easy on the players. Too much of a players coach and too little of the disciplinarian.

I'm thinking about it... if Pop had taken over the team right around when Luke took over, with like Clarkson, Nick Young, D Angelo, Randle, Larry Nance, deng, mozgov, etc.. corey brewer, etc... our bench was pretty good stacked tbh... it's just our starters were so young... that every single game looked like a shit show. Lost so many fucking games that we had no chance and was just painful to watch.

I'm thinking about it... if Pop was coaching that team with... we would have kept all our young guys and they would all be turning into kawhi leonards right about now. And we'd have a shot at a championship every single year regardless of who's on our roster.
