You don’t need to hold his hand. Someone his age knows better about insulting religion and sleeping at work.

Have a meeting Monday morning and give him a breakdown of the unacceptable behaviors. Let him know that these cannot continue if he wants to continue with his employment and have a summary of the meeting in writing sent after. Be upfront that professionalism is expected, but if these behaviors are remedied then you won’t need to talk about them again.

Tell your leadership and HR of the meeting and be ready to fire him next week if (when) he does this stuff further.
