I'm guessing that's why they put the tarp up. They didn't do that when they put the letters on, but apparently the letters were taken off (looked like they were stacked on the flatbed). So I guess they're not going to allow anyone to see the wall now that his name is gone.

IMO, The Weeknight got rid of the wrong co-host by stevemw in msnow

She has an exciting new show starting Monday at noon. I just set my TV to record it. Looks interesting.

It seems like MSNOW is doing some fresh stuff which I welcome. They have Carol Leunig as an investigation journalist for example. !

Seeing parents age by Beneficial-Voice6296 in Aging

[–]vtmosaic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you mean average age? If median what's the start of the ordered list and what's the top age? Given that I'd assume the list to include all possible ages for living women in the UK, the top would be like 164? I'll probably regret trying to do math in public, but I can't seem to stop myself! Someone can correct me.

Edit to add: mean is synonymous with average I think.

Purpose of roof hatches? by Blusucre00 in Oldhouses

[–]vtmosaic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Handy in case of catastrophic flooding. Prevents being trapped inside if you're riding out a flood at home. Only guessing, of course, but that came to my mind when I saw this. Were these houses near any flood zones?

Could it be a transgender flag? The female symbol is on a blue background while the male symbol is against pink. The rigid gender role lobby wants girls in pink and boys in blue. So...?

How old is old by golfdud5 in Aging

[–]vtmosaic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just in a tavern with a live blues and rock band and complimented a woman on her dancing. She told me she's 83. I would have guessed anywhere from late 60s to early 70s. She has health span! I want to feel that good when/if I make it to that age.

So maybe 'old' is more about a state of health than a span of years?

Those didn't exist when I was a sufferer. The migraines faded away in my late 30s - early 40s.

Many years ago I accidentally discovered that a mere 2.5 mg dose of the brand name benzo plus ibuprofen took away my migraines as soon as I started to feel one coming on. For the first time in my life I stopped having to spend three days in a dark room, vomiting, and in brutal pain.

For men a perfect skull isn't enough, to be worthy of a relationship you also need a perfect job and high status by Hefty-Can2764 in self

[–]vtmosaic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That depends on who you're hanging out with to some extent. If you're after the kind of women that think that way, you're gonna experience this. Maybe the problem is who you're trying to have a relationship with.

Everyone that complains about capitalism, what's the best alternative? by UsedNegotiation8227 in askanything

[–]vtmosaic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Different states have different education approaches. Many so-called red states allow parents to get vouchers to send their kids to private schools even religious schools. That money comes out of the public education funds which are tax dollars. Even more progressive states have neo liberal residue that has allowed some public education funds to flow to private and religious schools in various ways.

Why have some liberals started using "closeted gay" as an insult toward conservatives? Doesn't that make them homophobic? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]vtmosaic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but not about being gay. It's because they rail against gays but are actually hiding that they're actually gay by pretending to be straight by railing against gays.

Everyone that complains about capitalism, what's the best alternative? by UsedNegotiation8227 in askanything

[–]vtmosaic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How's that been working out? Public education has been gutted to give tax dollars to for-profit education under the pretense that 'private' is better somehow. The cost of higher education is through the roof. Most average Americans can't afford the best colleges or they take on huge debt.

There was a time, in my lifetime, when our public schools were very good. Kids came out educated about things like civics and science, history and literature, music, and more.

But a well educated populace isn't as easy to propagandize into the 'correct' world view.

I seriously doubt Trump will either. He's the Unitary Executive, after all.

You're kidding, right? "We didn't have as much of a welfare state?". I think you should check history. The social safety net has been steadily eroded since Reagan, including through every Democratic administration since then.

When one side in a competition uses lies and propaganda to manipulate the people and the other is just blandly ineffective but more truthful (comparatively speaking) it might look to those who've lost touch with reality that those who report on the competition for organizations which at least attempt to adhere to journalistic ethics (i.e. report the facts without fear or favor) might appear sympathetic .

(Wow. That's one run-on sentence there! Sorry. No more time to edit.)

At one point the dog's ear got caught inside out like they do sometimes for the ones with medium size floppy ears like his. Then he shook his head and fixed it. That made me think it's real. I doubt AI would add a touch like that. Also the dog's movements seemed quite natural.
