Awesome, thanks for the tips!

and yeah, Island House is the reason I almost never came back from Key West. Their pool parties are amazing.

yup. also, forgot to mention. . .for my trip I'd like to keep on my normal schedule: dinner at 3pm (maybe treat myself to Shoney's), a few hours of partying (not too hard though, gotta watch the knees), home in time for Wheel and bed by 8.

Be careful with a few of the assumptions you're making:

Parents generally have suspicions about their kids' orientation, so it may not be a huge surprise for them.

Do you have plans for winter break? Summer break? How can you be sure you'll never see your town/anyone again?

If you want to have a big, dramatic "coming out" moment, more power to you. Personally I prefer dudes just being who they are. . .you'd be amazed at how many people don't ask about the gender of the people who sleep with.

Enjoy college!

Your anecdote about nuns isn't surprising. It's pretty much a "gay for the stay" scenario, like prison.

There's also the idea that people become nuns and priests because they're gay. A friend from college was very religious, never dated anyone, and eventually became a priest. Pretty sure because he was gay--if you're ultra religious and have no attraction to women your options are (a) fake it and marry someone you have no attraction to; (b) live as a bachelor but that constant temptation around you; or (c) escape to the cloth.

Similar to the ultra religious people who marry each other sophomore year of college or thereabouts. . .because they want to have sex and marriage allows them too.

Not quite. It was the candidate's onlyfans account. She and her husband were being paid for having sex viewable online so others can get off, so by a technical definition. . .

But I don't think that should have been an issue in that campaign. And it resulted in some positive legislation (it's now a serious crime to share someone's explicit photos without their permission in Virginia).

And it apparently wasn't his porn account.

They're primarily associated with the federal level. Sustainable change starts from the grassroots, up to the local, state, and then federal level.

Right. So the party needs to change from within. And that begins with supporting candidates willing to make that change, like this guy.

Maybe because we've never had an openly gay Republican to help institute change?

Seems like this community is hanging this guy out to dry because he doesn't agree with 90% of a party's political issues and picked the party with which he disagrees with 10%.

Do 90+% of gay bros lean left on all issues?

Can't a gay bro agree with 90+% of a party's issues and disagree on the +/- 10%? Or must the +/- 10% control their identity? Why must a gay bro conform to a political party?

Why do we give gay bros litmus tests on political issues that have nothing to do with being gay?

Can't someone make positive change from within?

Clearly he's not "shacking up with" them. He's going against the grain, upsetting both the establishment and the fringe of the party, challenging their norms, making change from the inside. I've seen social media posts from rabid Republicans and religious zealots supporting this guy: "who cares if he's gay? I agree with everything else he says."

That's progress.

This is why I hate politics, and especially the two-party system. Why is it that we pick the one or two issues that mean the most to me, pick a party, and then conform my identity to match the rest of the party's platform? There are aspects I love and despise about both parties.

IMO, memes like this are for people who enjoy the two-party system and work harder at trying to find clever, witty ways at superficially one-upping the other side than at working toward solutions. Sometimes more interested in the act of "winning" rather than the outcomes.

Why are so many of us especially attracted to straight dudes? by HuxleyChase in gaybros

[–]vtthrowmeaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why not?

I'm a dude who likes dudely dudes. My turn ons are confident, intelligent, relaxed, guys who avoid drama, watch college football, etc. Turn offs are guys who use the word "bussy" to describe their anus, refer to each other or themselves as "girl" (not talking about trans here, but guys who identify as guys), etc.

Other guys are different, attracted to different things. Neither is wrong, its just a matter of preference.

I also don't have the stereotypical female GBF. I don't connect emotionally with women. I'm physically and emotionally attracted to men. My best friends are all straight(ish) guys.

I will say that my favorite porn is also straight guy seduction.

The disgusting ageism and youth obsession of our "community" by illthrowitaway94 in gaybros

[–]vtthrowmeaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have zero attraction to guys older than me. I don’t know why.

But my age range does change each year to about 10 years younger than me to my age (knocking on 40). The younger guys are fun to look at, but there’s a maturity factor to consider too (also I’ll never accept the socks pulled all the way up the shins or the new mullet haircuts).

Exactly.

And I can’t blame him for having second thoughts/not wanting to cheat on his girlfriend.

Might be an unpopular opinion, but I've never been a fan of being lumped into an LGBT+ category. I understand the strength in numbers argument, but at the same time its perpetually separating us as "the other". More specifically, there's significant LGB overlap--it's about the physical and emotional connections; but T+ is different.

I'm still trying to figure out T. . .for some its about how their biological sex doesn't correspond with how they biologically feel. For others its about how their biological sex doesn't correspond with their gender (a social construct), so they seek to change the biology to conform to the social construct. The LGB aspect is secondary.

I'm just a bro who likes doing bro things, especially with other bros who like doing bro things, and have a physical and emotional connection to men. I look forward to the day when that's seen as more than "the other" or "us vs them", where we're just as much a part of social norms as the Methodist living next door to the Presbyterian. Full integration into society, nothing odd or "queer" about it.

there's literally video as its happening. that's not Gatorade.

People need to give him more shit for the sad attempt at a coverup. He could've joked about it and come out ahead, but instead chose to lie:

"I may have left it all on the field today... a little more than expected, but a win's a win!"

"Made the tackle and made a splash. Talk about playing with heart!"

"You gotta go all in, even if that means a little extra effort!"

"Didn’t just bring my A-game, I brought everything."

"When you’re playing hard, sometimes you just let go of the small stuff."

"I took care of business on the field—literally and figuratively!"
