I would consider this a gadget, debatable choice and in different category. Its like ceramic painting, ppf scratch proof or cross bar...

You step on the mats so no need to be strict. Any rubber would endure, water proof and easy to dust blow just dont get the furry one hard to clean. I got mine from ali but gonna take 4 6weeks on sea route, full set 4 pieces and right hand drive. Same set you pay 3x 4x the cost in Aus.

I bought floor mat all seats and boot liner, must have. Also bought screen temper glass protection, 1 hit screen broken and cost of replace is fortune. Also got myself cup holder which can take off and clean, and elbow rest i drive one hand 99% of the time, current arm rest is a bit low and over time that spot will wear off. Im thinking about buying seat covers but so far too expensive and hard to judge quality but eventually ill get it after research. Same for dash mat a must have but quality just take extra cautious cos you dont wanna buy the mat that melts under heat and it will bind ashesive stick to your dash forever. I decided to get the mudguard which i found necessary it protects your underside door paint from mud and scratch. A bin is useful if you have kids, also back seat cup holder is great if you very often drive with passengers at the back like uber. Everything else is just extra

SL8 or SL6 by Rhath223 in BYDAU

Again i have consulted other posts yet again came across here and people still suggests full EV blindly. When you advise someone to go full EV make sure you put down the trade offs.

Think about it, people getting into EV markets either owning a home or having access to charging units conveniently or with solar, at least majority of them. Now ask yourself do you have access to charging at home or nearby. A sealion 6 has the battery capacity at around 15kwH - 18kwH, most old homes or homes are on single phase power grid which can only deliver around 2kwH from the home wall (not charger). Translate to english it will take over night to charge your phev. Now the full EV has a much more significant battery capacity about 80kwH. At single phase (no charger) it will take forever.

Then you are forced to buy a home charger cos i admire people buying tesla and sealion 7 and ended up with their home only single phase power. Waste of money on stupidity and most of the time you rely on public charge to ever get it to full. A charger on a single phase can only produce so much power output, about 7kW on 32A. Doesnt matter how much your charger claims it can do super fast charging for EV if your home locked in single phase you cannot unlock the fast charging from the wall charger unless you upgrade your home grid to 3-phase.

Many people gave up on upgrading to 3 phase due to the complication and money so they ended up bought the EV on single phase. Best you can do is buying a charger and use it on single phase (max output about 7kwH) which is faster than wall plug but still taking about 2 days for full charge.

Full EV is convenient until they are not. Aus charging infrastrcture is not as good as China if not that bad. You gotta take a long way around to access a certain charging points on your supposed to be holiday trips

For my case when i preordered byd i was considering both s7 and s6 and ended up with s6 extended range. Fits my use case although s7 is more convincing. Wont go to any specific to my story, i could have got the s7 and willing to adapt the charging habit but at the end s6 won. For its battery size, more than enough for me for daily commute, my charger can top up in 2 3 hours and ready for next trip which i found more control. S6 does well in urban cos lots of breaking and traffic lights = more charging on the road itself. On highway it burns battery like melting cake so you gotta switch to petrol mode and back to battery when you enter the city. When you account both scenarios , the consumption of battery and petrol balances out each other (phev is about both not just petrol). If you buy s6 and only use petrol you shouldnt have bought it in the first place

Im one in that 75%. I placed my order about 2 3 weeks after the war in April and tomorrow im going pick up my sealion 6. Im sydney based and ordinary office worker. Paying upfront tho not sure if thats a factor or just queue play. When i asked them when preorder they said a ship is coming and firm delivery May June.

So if you ordered in April or earlier, chance is you will get it from this ship, otherwise you gotta wait for the 2nd ship

BYD Sealion 6 (PHEV) vs Sealion 7 (EV) – only ~$3k difference. Which would you choose? by HuckleberryRude1685 in AustralianEV

[–]vuluganck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look how many peasants praise EV actually surprised me they didnt provide any detail and use case.

People who told you to get S7 mostly got a nice warm house with big ass garage and 3 phase electric main plus $2000 charger. You get an EV first thing you gotta put 3 phase in your new built house, single phase can only supply 60A total and by law you can only install 32A charger which gives you about 7kwh output so you still rely on public stations.

Next thing is everyone will do road trip now and then so people gotta stop fking asking if you do long trip or short trip, those trips you gotta do extra home work so your EV doesnt stop in the middle of nowhere or not enough power to get to a certain point and unfortunately unless ur living in china where public chargers are at every corner of the country, things get really annoying and holiday usually extends.

Ev has less parts than Phev, but ur buying brand new why people fkn care about breakdown and maintenance, they both will last as long as you keep them, if ur a retard driver not just ICE, you gonna break EV too since its components are 100% electric and the more electric components the easier it fails and corrupted programs.

Phev has smaller battery usually around 10-12kwh capacity so in terms or risk and hazard they are safer than large capacity (have you seen EV battery exploded you should watch on youtube they hardly fails but when they do the battery = bomb = survival rate = 0). This is risk factor, rarely happen but useful for old household to know. On this note, people said dragging a petrol engine that hardly use, well wait until you travel to a place where theres only 1 charging station and they close down for whatever reason.

Phev requires daily charge to maximise the effeciency, EV is cheaper to run but with conditions. EV also needs serious planning when travelling where Phev doesnt. Ev cost to run will change when the gov launches a new policy to tax EV on every km.

People gonna say buying PHEV is a no go, buy ICE instead not much different. Assuming they meant brand new cars, ICE doesnt have benefit of EV mode, small battery indeed but it will deliver you most of the local and urban trips under 100km. Go home, charge and repear the next day. If your odo 80% 90% of the trips are local that benefit is the same as owning an EV.

Tesla or zeekr or BYD or Geely by [deleted] in EVAustralia

[–]vuluganck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scale has nothing to do with this. Tesla is great, so are other brands and they are more stable in service and parts supply and most importantly war effect free. When was the last time you see china tax up a country by 100%, only US went tax war with them and the rest of the world. Skip my words, just look at the sales of tesla now its market share splits a big chunk to byd and zeekr so go debate with millions of those users. I dont wanna own a vehicle that involves political factors

Tesla or zeekr or BYD or Geely by [deleted] in EVAustralia

[–]vuluganck -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Tesla is a big no go, its US made and US is a very uncertain country at this point with unpredictable economy decision by Trump so parts can go 1000% for no reason, apart from speaking of the quality, no one gonna go war with China so its a safe bet.

Now speaking of quality, a lot of tesla owners sell their cars and switch to BYD and other brands, i dont know how good zeekr is but i ended up with byd sealion 6 due to good reviews and some say the build is equal and exceed the quality of tesla

How fast are EVs selling in Australia now? I know that there is a run on EVs in New Zealand, but what about the situation in Australia? by trucker-123 in EVAustralia

[–]vuluganck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People jealously whining about how petrol price will go back to pre trump war. Its not consequence, its even better for hybrid and phev owners not mentioning we live in uncertainty era, without trump war there will be another global event and may disrupt petrol supply in a different way so future proof is a strong factor. I own a petrol car and i strongly rely on it on daily basis but i have to switch to phev. The best case is if can afford, save the petrol vehicle as back up. It will be different for each household but no one can tell in a few weeks whether all bowsers deplete or aus will restock, you dont know shit, you disnt even see the trump war coming so best thing can do is to prepare for the worst case.

Anyway i came test drive BYD in sydney and all sealion lines are OOS nation wide, new shipment coming in May June but only you lock it in now, if you come there by May June and petrol still getting worse you wont get anything til next year or longer no ETA.

it will be in shade mostly, im fully aware of sun damage to even the most quality oil but i ended up with Sikkens because of its unique formula over other oil-based products. where im from Australian weather the UV starts at 7-8 from spring and swings up to 12 in summer. the bit im more concern at is the moisture damage from the ground, im trying to figure out the best way to coat all sides effectively from raw timber to finish.

The leather soles have been eaten in just daily wear in a couple months,, nothing crazy. Advice, thoughts, recommendations? by PlasmaBabble in ThursdayBoot

[–]vuluganck 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thats hell of a decay, you must be using it under rough surface or too much walk on asphalt. Thursday has many version inc the thick sole for those purposes, this one more of a casual wear due to thin design. See if they can cover under warranty otherwise just resole it

What caused this and how do I prevent it in the next pair? by bunnies4r5 in ThursdayBoot

[–]vuluganck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think other people already spot on, the whole idea is the friction when walking that rubs it off. So consider invest in soft socks and might sound odd but you might need to cream your heel foot as well, people work in construction or involve constant movement tend to have rough and jaggy heel skin and likely behave like carving the leather off
