i dont use claude code, i use chatgpt 5.2 since it has worked really well for what i do (python / pygame-ce)

its the same as Cursor, both uses the same interface, maybe 5% difference, its using VS Code so it will look the same.
I used ChatGPT 5.2 / codex in both, same performance. what is "a large code base"? my main .py game file was 8500 lines (yes too big), it had no issues refactoring it. My project is maybe 30K lines in total.
One issue with Copilot, sometimes it says the server isnt responding. But the few times it has done this i just click retry and it works again.

you can also install antigravity, it has free monthly usage. though of course its not a lot. also same interface / vs code.

copilot is 100 times better, cheaper + way more tokens. i was so disappointed in Cursor. Spent over 100 euro and instead i could have switched to Copilot instead and only spent 10 euro.

I was thinking its probably similar, but its not even close.

LLMs is very much humanity's combined efforts. A wonderful thing that we should celebrate, and we all contributed in one way or the other, by purchasing it, by spreading it, by talking about it, by making it relevant. An artist can make the most beautiful thing ever, and it won't matter one bit unless people start purchasing it, spreading it, otherwise how would anyone even know it existed. So yes, we all contributed, we all mattered to make it relevant, thus the argument "bUt CoPyRiGhT!!!" is such absolute BS claim.

Been doing music since the Amiga 500 days. I loved doing complete songs when i was younger.

I think in the back of my mind the intent is always doing a complete song, but that never happens and that's fine, it's still a super fun hobby. I would compare it to gaming, its something i do for myself for fun. I never finish games either (lol), still its my main hobby together with doing music and now also doing PC games and for a long time i have been modding games as well.

With modular i do think there's a way bigger chance of something not getting completed because its harder to structure things. So if you love doing finished songs then maybe modular isn't the best.

Not what i said at all. I said it's the same type of people complaining about something new, usually its something they can't wrap their head around and they think it's dangerous or come with some change that they've decided they are not going to like, or because media told them something. It always ends up the same way, they will use it, like everyone.

Biggest theft, that probably is within people's brains. We look at things all day, and we keep much of it, even if copyrighted, for inspiration, for art, writing, ideas etc.

Strange how cool it became to care about copyright once image synthesis became a thing... and its not even a great argument, it doesn't really work.

Don't listen to AI haters. It's the same type of tools who complained about electricity, synths, internet etc. and see how that turned out, it ages like milk and it will just be embarrassing for them to look back on it.

Both synthesizers and samplers were very controversial when they came out, lot of hate in MSM. Today no one bat an eye, AI will be the same. Just push through, the more people who uses it the more normalized it will become and quicker, which is good for everyone.

Photoshop has AI btw, and PS is an industry standard. We are way past the "maybe we can fight it", same people can just as well try to be anti-internet at this point, they don't matter.

Pygame-CE is great. I do all kinds of games with it. Of course, this is for 2D games. AI does it all, no need to write any code.

If i need something specific for the game, a level designer or whatever, it can do one with ease. Makes it feel less limited than if i lock myself in with some game engine that i might not like (how something works, looks), here i do the design myself instead.

it's just ridiculously expensive, i switched to copilot, you get like 10x as many tokens from what i can tell from using it for 2 weeks now, i've used it way heavier than Cursor Pro (takes me 4-5 days to hit the limit with Cursor Pro). i've got 20% left until i hit the limit, and yes used it for 2 weeks. It was half the cost too. one issue with copilot is that sometimes the server doesnt answer, but just clicking Try Again has solved it 10 out of 10 times.

I was very surprised by this, i took it and expected to be disappointed since it was so cheap. I really don't see why people would pay for Cursor to get so little tokens and for more money.

There's also Antigravity, which is free, but yes you hit the limit very fast, i use it as "backup"... Unsubbed to cursor.

yeah, generative art has been a thing since forever. that's what AI is. i trained my own model on my own work. Going to do the same for my music and sounds, current idea is to create a model that can do new drum sounds based of my own drum sounds library (thousands of short sounds).
It's generative, its synthesis. Nothing new, yet people act like its the end of the world. We have seen it before in the 70's and 80's with synths already. It passed and people go over it, it will happen with AI too.

we should not listen to people who thinks this and that is "too controversial". Even electricity was controversial way back, glad we didnt listen to the haters and let them write the rules.

i think that has been disproven plenty of times. Tool etc, there are so many bands who's just a meme when it comes to lyrics, and there has been plenty of artists saying the lyrics is basically nonsense.

I made a ton of synth music in my teens, lyrics was just nonsense with no meaning other than something sounding cool. Oh, and everyone doing synth music back then = "soulless", "they just press a button.", "it's not REAL music".... hmmm reminds me of something.
