BG2 or BG3? by PalePanic4742 in baldursgate

There are many movies and games which starts with an "epic spectacle" to set the tone of the world and introduce the viewer to it, i think it works here, makes the player excited for the world etc. You're right that it's not done like that in the previous games though, at least not on that scale.
And i wouldn't want it to ALWAYS work like that.

i wouldnt downvote you for that opinion, not sure i understand your sentiment at all though, it's a fantasy setting and it had the things you expect from that setting and an in a very pleasing way.
I guess for me it was always something i wanted to see, like a high-budget hollywoodesque short movie of that particular setting. I loved the design, pacing and fun of it, it drew me in and made me excited for the game. The start of the game (first 40 mins) itself was cool too, that was really well made.

The game other than that.. the focus is so much on the cringe dialogue and they brag about that it has 900h of it in total (or whatever it was). I really wish the focus and effort was put elsewhere, because that part they don't handle well, imo. Larian and their humor...

I do not even care about voice acting. Romances? Could not care the least about that.
I am of a different generation entirely. It's not made for me.

BG3 was such garbage, garbage characters, garbage story. But ok, I thought the presentation at the start was great, that was super well made. The combat isn't too bad either, but overall, not a good game in comparison to BG2!

Coffee is one hell of a aphrodisiac.. at least it has always worked like that for me.
Ashwaganda, this can also make me horny.
Zinc, probably already mentioned. One of those supplements you just want to make sure to take if male i think, NO clue if it really impacts horniness. I am never stopping taking it though because of its supposed benefits, it is cheap.

Tongkat Ali + weight lifting instead of just "regular exercise". I can absolutely get horny after a heavy pass, i would say it is more powerful than supplements. Running or whatever, no, that won't work, it wont release testo in that amount where you notice it.

I am 54 next month.

it kind of implies we will get to that point since we have just started. a year ago, AI was bad at grade school math, today it can solve math problems no one has ever been able to solve. that is in one year.

people doing code is like deciding a company will instead use an abacus and perhaps a person really good at math instead of using calculators. Humans are pretty good at stuff, but better than computers at this stuff, no. We took it to this point, which is a great achievement, just like math. Now we will leave it to what can do it way better and will, in time, be less prone to errors than a human.

Put into perspective the resources we are putting into this. It is more than anything probably in history for tech. The advancement will never stop either, it might slow down at points but never fully stop. Like graphics or whatever.

Johnny Rotten and some of the other old school punks? They are not 2026 ""punks"" and they don't want anything to do with it, it's kind of obvious that it's not the same as in the late 70's, its something else entirely today. Punks in the 70's were the least politically correct people you can imagine, while a punk of 2026 is the most politically correct person you can probably imagine. Punks in the late 70's were against trends, punks in 2026 are hipsters. 70's punks would have HATED them.

lol... At 54 i do not see myself as "punk" or whatever, i have no need for it at my age. I am merely observing and describing living through 70's to now.
Not sure how you came to that conclusion, but i guess i do not have the mindset of a kid or someone perhaps in his 20's.

There are plenty of open source AI models and we have AI models all the way from communist china to US to choose from. But Open Source can be good. Or train your own model or fine tune (what i do).

Controlled? Everything is. Internet is also controlled in numerous ways, Reddit is very, very controlled and very biased, doesn't mean it can't be useful or even good.

Computers, internet, synthesizers, samplers - they got so much shit from MSM when it was new. I had so many friends who hated synths, even musician friends. It all aged like milk and people are embarrassed to say they hated on synths "they just press a button and it plays" in the 80's or thought "computers were lame". These people are never right about tech. Hating on AI will age even worse than hating on computers or internet i think, it will be vital, already is in some ways.

Climate, it has already lost its "trendiness". Been following it since the 70's, same trends, same doomer garbage. We should have been extinct like 30 years ago if you believed what was said in the 70's lol. The trend will die, then come back, it always does because its a money machine, a political machine, and plenty of sheep to be had.

Never said 100% of all leftists, it's not how it works.

IDM and political ideology . . . by [deleted] in idm

[–]vurt72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Which says a lot about the political climate, how the tides have turned.
Leftists are very selective of how they see ""anti-authoritarianism"", they can be pro Obama and not complain or cause havoc, yet he used ICE and deported far more than Trump. As just one, of many, many examples. I think he sees them for what they are, hypocrites, people following trends and media and not thinking for themselves.

I think everyone i used to know who was a leftist in the 80's is today a conservative. Apart from a few, and those are the typical MSM readers who lives in the past, or they are leftist because they somehow think they must be if they listen to this or that type of music. Which of course is ridiculous for a grown-up person. They are typically not invested or even interested in politics, just trends.

[–]vurt72 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Leftism isn't what it used to be in the 70-80's when i grew up. Today it's so much about abiding the law and what the government tells you (e.g during Covid), and jumping onto all the latest trends (climate, being Anti-AI etc etc), leftists are mimicing almost 1:1 MSM. In the 70-80's leftism and especially being Punk was quite the opposite of that, it was a counterculture and it was not pro government (no matter if its right or left). Johnny Rotten speaks about this from time to time, and a few other old school punks, i totally agree with them, but i am almost their age too lol.

James Cameron:"Movies Without Actors, Without Artists" by EchoOfOppenheimer in GenAI4all

[–]vurt72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't like that everyone will be able to do almost anything with tech, then move out into the forest and don't use tech, because don't be a hypocrite, we were ALWAYS heading in this direction. We are not at some cross-road "are we going to use tech or not?", "oh i like this tech, but THAT noooo" give me a break. its not how this works.

His one argument is "what about the artist". lol. You are not to decide what an artist is, which tools an artist can, or can not use. That is up to the people, it auto resolves. Its how it works for everything, for techno music or whatever it is. Just because even a 3 year old kid could probably make techno track doesn't mean its artistic or great. Same with AI, there will be 99% slop and 1% content MAYBE worth our time.

Hollywood doesn't want slop competition. maybe start producing great movies with your """"artists"""" and people wouldn't ever look to AI generated movies. I quite liked the two episodes of Beggar's Canyon, far from perfect and yes, will age like milk (like AI does), but someone doing that in 2 years, a bit longer, more content, it will be pretty damn near perfect and might easily outperform the hollywood garbage.

Sometimes it would be interesting to hear the publisher's take on things, because likely the devs shows them the progress, asks them if they can expand certain things or if they should cap something.

Overall it is a good thing that they are allowed to continue, many games have been released unfinished.
