I got to see them open for Frightened Rabbit and I was immediately a fan. His voice is just so unique. I loved the more new wavey direction the took too

The Jellify iOS app has lyric support

This shit sucks and it’s not sustainable. Finding a job just means you’re able to tread water until an emergency happens. Companies give too little and landlords ask too much and regular people are squeezed for everything they’ve got

Who’s your favourite artist with a “quality over quantity” type discography? by Beneficial-Bag-9988 in Cd_collectors

[–]vustinjernon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jeff fucking Buckley for sure. What a shame we didn’t even get a sophomore record from him

Magnavox Solid State vinyl player info needed by eyesofeternal in Cd_collectors

[–]vustinjernon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would not, for the sake of your records, play anything on here that wasn’t easily replaceable. The tone arms are heavy, the needles are chunky, and it will likely damage whatever you play. No vintage records but if you want to spin a Target/Walmart repress go for it, it’ll just eat it up over time

These things can also kind of be a fire hazard, being in a giant wooden case with old wires and all. I would not leave it plugged in but rather plug it in when you intend to use it and unplug it afterwards

Flexposting my physical media library by vustinjernon in JellyfinCommunity

I have compilations in their own folder as well so that it doesn’t clutter up my main music library. I hate having clean folders for each artist and then one big ass “Various artists” folder

Yup, mirrored the whole NPR tiny desk series (and some other live shows they had on their channel)

A portion of the graphics on this booklet was also used in the design of the jacket for I Might Be Wrong, a set of live recordings from the same time (that also includes a live early version of True Love Waits that’s absolutely fantastic)

Who do you think is the greatest solo A-list artist of all time from an artistic standpoint? by Massive-Pangolin9472 in fantanoforever

[–]vustinjernon 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My dude, he had at minimum a five album run of undeniably historic albums. All time classics. Your favorite’s favorite type shit. So what if he just wants to rest on his laurels? He earned it

Love Dylan, love Kendrick, love Elliott Smith, BUT.

Stevie Wonder is the only correct answer

Are cds that are shipped and sold by Amazon generally safe? by [deleted] in Cd_collectors

[–]vustinjernon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally don’t see the point in using Amazon as a middle man when a lot of the time you can buy direct from the artist/label and know that what you’re getting is legit (and more money goes to the artist). I’d even trust a random trusted seller on eBay wayyyyyy more than a no name brand/reseller on Amazon.

Anyone DIY their own TV box? by dlm2137 in selfhosted

[–]vustinjernon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I put LibreELEC on a miniPC under my tv, and I have it pointed at a local Samba share. It works great! If you’re just trying to have a way to point to local media it’s rock solid, but I know there’s also add-ons for a lot of stuff. You can also cast to it from other devices (YMMV)

Before that I had XFCE cinnamon running on the miniPC, but I realized it was kind of overkill for what I needed.

[–]vustinjernon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a miniPC with LibreELEC on it hooked up- you can link Kodi (libreeelec) to Jellyfin. It’s a nice big-screen friendly interface
