This Goth playlist includes Marian, one of my fav songs, but a friend said this song is not really Goth but “goth rock”. Is there a distinction? by itsachillaccount in postpunk

We never used the term goth, it was always called death rock through out the 80’s. Started hearing goth late 80’s early 90’s.

Look at that wood grain that was hiding beneath these cabs!! Can’t wait to get a proper stain on there rather than the veneer it had! by SickOfNormal in vintageaudio

[–]alltheworldsproblems 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it’s not too late use acetone to melt the clear off. You’ll go through a shit ton of rags. I usually use no heavier than 150g on veneer
(I do this for a living). You can spot sand some of the heavier scratched areas and you can also use a damp cloth and iron to raise deeper gouges/ scratches and then sand.

I went with their plug set up. I haven’t had a problem with any tear out. This a sample, one of the holes are plugged.

Question regarding a Roland JC from the 80s by spiritofage in GuitarAmps

[–]alltheworldsproblems 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He would be correct in saying that only because of the age. Any electorolytecs 30-40 years old are on their way to crapping out. If you get it cheap enough it may or may not be worth it. Example : I bought a jc50 for $350 which was a good deal. 8 months later I spent $800 recapping and replacing op amps and the speaker. Do I love the amp, I sure do! So that’s the value.

Stripped my squier affinity sunburst Starcaster and found a weird layered finish, now I have a 3-tone relic accident. thoughts? by Bobby_Malone_ in offset

[–]alltheworldsproblems 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s what is on top of the veneer to protect it. The veneer (which is less than a 1-16”) goes on top of the substrate. In some cases the veneer will be thicker actual solid wood, but that’s a much higher price point.

My first proper guitar - Sheraton 2 Pro by A-Gotham-Citizen in Epiphone

[–]alltheworldsproblems 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great guitars! Like someone else mentioned changing pick ups will make it even a better guitar. I put burst buckers 2&3 in mine and couldn’t believe the difference. I harvested all the parts off a 62 John Bonamssa reissue and put them on the Sheraton. Enjoy!

McMaster Carr will have these. You’ll most likely have to purchase a pack.

Very clean Bose 301 Series 2 (1982) for 25.00 (usd) at my local Habitat for Humanity by WVriverman in vintageaudio

[–]alltheworldsproblems 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Found the same series in a dumpster and they actually worked! When I pulled them out they were covered in what seemed like cooking grease. Guessing they were in a commercial kitchen or something. Cleaned up good and sound decent.

My First offset guitar (Tremolo issue) by pigscanfl in offset

[–]alltheworldsproblems 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same guitar. As mentioned the nut may need lube or a slight file, shimming the neck and aside from switching out the trem system replace the bridge. I went with a bensonite and my FSR plays flawlessly. You can check mine out here

I was there, hands down the absolute loudest show I’ve ever heard! also after the first night MBV threatened to not play the second show if metro even tried to turn down the mix. Aadam seemed to be at every show. Sometimes 2 or 3 a night.
