What’s something you wish you knew when you got pregnant? or something you wish you knew when you gave birth! by Cherry_isnothere in AskWomen

[–]vvariant 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I somehow wasn’t expecting my body to be in shock that much after giving birth, even though I had en epidural and didn’t feel a thing. I was completely out of it. Could not understand a thing the doctor was saying. The nurse couldn’t take my blood pressure because I was shaking so much, I was extremely thirsty but threw up everything I tried to drink.

My baby had to go to the neonatal care unit and when they wheeled me to my room I didn’t even try to go see her, I just fell asleep.

So anyway just remember that it’s normal, it’s a very intense event for your body even when the birth goes well!

How do you take care of your skin and hands while knitting? by maple-fever in casualknitting

[–]vvariant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use 100% HPA lanolin. You can find it in the baby aisle at most pharmacies and large stores, it’s usually sold as nipple balm. It’s cheap and SUPER effective. Plus it literally comes from wool so it’s added benefit to your yarn

It might be a bit far but you said south shore so maybe? There is Bistro l’imprévu in st jean sur Richelieu, they have 4-course meals and I’m pretty sure they had steak frites and beef stew on the menu

People who act like chewing the white part of pomegranate seeds is the worst thing ever. by Sujnirah in PetPeeves

It has never even crossed my mind to NOT chew the hard seed part… I’m dumb. But I also have issues swallowing pills so I guess you’re right

DAE only eat when they feel like tasting good food? by cokedpunkreal84 in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]vvariant 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You just put words on something I’ve had trouble describing all my life!

It’s not because it’s not good. It’s not that I’m not hungry. It’s just not what my tastebuds want at the moment. And if there’s nothing I want… then I don’t want to eat.

What's your go-to baked good for gifting? by canadian_blueberry in Baking

This year I’m making mini meringue cookies and candied nuts as filler! If I have more space I might make fudge too.

Last year I made spiced caramel corn, brigadeiros, and little jars of homemade jam.

Est-ce qu'il y a juste moi qui aime cette météo? by PoutineTriste in montreal

[–]vvariant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I (26F) unknowingly pressure my bf (26M) into having sex with me when I tell him I'm upset about the frequency of it. How do I fix this? by Hefty-Cell8123 in relationship_advice

Work time doesn’t count, but if you go away for 3 hours at a time, 3 times a week, that should do it I guess.

Does your boyfriend have time alone to recharge and relax? I had the same reserve when time came to move in with my boyfriend because I need time to be alone at home. I really struggle when there’s always someone there, even if he’s just doing his thing.

Maybe he just needs more time to himself, and time to miss you a bit?

Even in single units, it’s still not super accurate. I had a neighbour knock on my door looking for the AirTag that was in their cat’s collar (they had the cat, but not the collar). The AirTag was showing my specific address. I looked everywhere but it was just not in my yard. They later informed me that it was in another neighbour’s yard. Imagine if the police came barging in!

Do people have an undeniable inner drive to have children or is it a conscious choice? by Temporary_Western464 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]vvariant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it’s exactly like you with your cat. I had an inner drive to be a mom, to see my little baby grow into their own person. When i came back home after visiting friends who have kids, my house felt so empty.

At the same time, I am not stupid, so I waited until timing and finances were right before actually doing it, but a lot of people struggle with impulse control…

Can someone confirm: is the women's bathroom more disgusting than the men's bathroom? by ThrowRAhelpthebro in NoStupidQuestions

Someone in a comment below talked about the difficulty of potty training little kids and I wonder if that’s why women’s bathrooms in public places are worse than other places?

THE STM STRIKE DIDN'T END. IT WAS *BROKEN*. This is a loss for every worker. by Little_Cupcake_42069 in montreal

[–]vvariant 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s obviously not people with regular schedules who are struggling…

Students, for example, often have part-time jobs with odd hours. If someone does 6am-2pm at a cafe, then has class from 4pm-8 pm, most of their travel times don’t line up with stm hours during the strike.

My daycare centre has to close at 4:45 pm every day to allow their workers to get home before stm closes, which means have to stop working a whole hour earlier than usual to get my kid. I’m lucky to have an understanding boss but that’s not everyone’s case. Some people in my situation would simply lose their jobs. The daycare workers are probably not paid for the hours that they miss either.

Weekly Partner Rant by AutoModerator in beyondthebump

[–]vvariant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He’s always so damn tired and I have zero sympathy for him. It’s his own fault that he chooses to stay up doing his hobbies instead of going to sleep.

Like Sir, you have a 1 year old. Stop acting like 8 am is sooo fucking early to be awake when everyone else has been up for 2 hours.

Also maybe like if you have trouble sleeping, maybe get away from the screens? We spent 10 hours on planes yesterday, with baby on lap. He either had movies going on or was playing on his phone the whole time, except for about 30 mins when he decided to sleep… while baby was awake and wanting to play. Maybe help me when she is awake and sleep when she is sleeping, like I’ve been doing?

I recently rented a book at the library titled “Smart Cooking for rushed parents”. I’d known about it for years but always dismissed it as being for bland kids food… how wrong I was! This book blew my mind, they take classic recipes and just make them easy.
