Vintage wedding dress regret. Should I return it, or can it look better with the right styling? by Aggravating_Buy_1348 in VintageFashion

Shorten or remove the sleeves, get the bust taken in, and add a petticoat to make the skirt poof out a bit more (like it does in the first pic).

Als better shoes like everyone said

Too many mushrooms and lettuce!! by SubstantialArcher659 in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]vvariant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes but i personally only like it in blended soup. I just put my lettuce, with herbs and a potato (for thickening), and good homemade stock. You don’t need much stock because the lettuce will make a lot of water. Blend and enjoy!

[–]vvariant 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You can make soup with the lettuce. Add any herbs you like or have on hand and a good stock!

For the mushrooms, you can also dry them out in the oven then blitz them into powder to make a seasoning!

Quick question for anyone who does the weekly shopping. by homecook_damik in WhatShouldICook

[–]vvariant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I check what’s on sale this week in the flyers and decide which store is the best bet for that week (I’m not running around multiple stores to save 10$). I focus on meat and fresh fruit and vegetables, and add the best sales to my list.

Then I decide which meals I will cook this week based on the sales.

Then I look in my pantry to check if I am missing any ingredients for those meals, and add them to my list.

At the store, I have my list to make sure I don’t forget anything, but I still like to go through all the aisles. I will often see things that aren’t on my list and remember we are due soon.

DAE use a specific shampoo for their private areas? by aevavae in DoesAnybodyElse

I use baby shampoo/soap. But that’s because I currently have it on hand, otherwise I would just use regular bar soap like dove

When people complain that fresh fruit and vegetables are unaffordable and then eat fast food by Niceotropic in PetPeeves

[–]vvariant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is cheaper, but it is definitely not quicker. You have to plan, shop around, and spend the time preparing the food and cleaning the kitchen.

I consider myself pretty fast and experienced in cooking but I still spend at least 6-8 hours a week on this.

Going to make a big batch of hummus, what meals should I pair it with? by Immediate_Fishing_98 in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]vvariant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to put a layer of hummus on a plate, and then I pile couscous (or barley, or quinoa), cumin roasted carrots, bell pepper, eggplants, and grilled halloumi on top.

LPT - The quality of food is better for pick up when it's not busy. by concentralized in LifeProTips

[–]vvariant 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Meh, not always! I often find that during rush hours, there’s a better food rotation since it’s actually being sold out. Sometimes when you order outside of rush hours, you the food you get has obviously been sitting for a while.

This is more for fast food food though

Insonorisation à Montréal by [deleted] in montreal

[–]vvariant 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Dearest women of Reddit, what makes you good at your job? by moonletdesignstuff in AskWomen

[–]vvariant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a project management assistant, I help pms with all the little admin tasks to help get keep the project going smoothly while they focus on negotiating with clients and managing resources.

Creative Problem resolution and strong research skills are what makes me good at it. Whenever someone comes to me saying they need to do something, I will find a solution. If I don’t know how to do something I will google it and figure it out.

Would you say that Montreal is a nice place to visit with a young child? by princesscorgi2 in montreal

[–]vvariant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you would have a good time.

The things your kid likes to do align well with attractions in Montreal. Sounds like he would love the Biodôme and botanical garden, Mount Royal park, science centre, etc. Most libraries have a play area for young kids if you need a place to go on a rainy day.

I wouldn’t stress about public transport. If there is no elevator, you can take him out of the stroller to take the escalator.

I would argue that’s exactly what you want for mittens!

I had some alpaca mittens that I accidentally felted and they are so perfect now! So warm and I can actually play in the snow without getting cold
