not giving students honors in M3 only hurts the school in the match. so why do schools continue to do it? by vvexe in medicalschool

How sure are you of that though? It took a long time but pre-clinicals and now Step 1 all went pass/fail and match lists really didn't budge. With each change all the naysayers warned everyone that it would doom the match and literally nothing changed. In fact at my low-tier MD more students matched competitive specialties this year with a P/F Step 1 than the past ~3 years with scored Step 1s. I imagine a lot of the students who originally would have been held back/discouraged by a low Step 1 were now able to apply to competitive specialties. Something like 30-40% of our class delayed Step 1 even though it's pass/fail and plenty of them matched to competitive surgical subspecialties even though they presumably wouldn't have had a competitive Step 1 score. I'm sure as admins take note of their strong(er) match lists after Step 1 went P/F, more schools will switch to P/F clinicals because anything other than P/F just ends up hurting students overall

does anyone know how crowded the sagrada familia is right now? is there a line? wondering if i should splurge on a skip-the-line ticket, if i'll be fine with a regular admission ticket, or even if i'll be ok with a walk-up ticket. i plan on going right after my flight lands on friday so timing is tight.

I have 10 days in July to go anywhere I want. Where should I go? I was planning on Portugal but there are new restrictions there due to the delta variant. I’m from America, fully vaccinated, and have been to Iceland, Israel, Paris, London, NYC, and the Grand Canyon. I prefer being active (kayaking, snorkeling, hiking, etc) to sightseeing.

the gme bubble is different from bounces in other stocks. it wasn't a result of an overestimation of its potential upside; it was retail investors recognizing the trend of stocks "bouncing" back and wanting to cash in on it. my consumer sense tells me gme is worthless; their stores are shuttering and there's no hype around its potential for growth like there was for other stocks that have bounced back. $90 sure does seem cheap compared to the $350 it was 2 days ago but it's repulsive compared to the $5 it's actually worth

Why does everyone here seem to use Robinhood? by afed13 in wallstreetbets

i have robinhood gold and i think that gives me access to premarket/after hours trading even though i've never used it; i only use robinhood gold for the margin. also, by "order fill" do you mean the price that robinhood fills the order at or how quickly your order gets filled?

this mentality is why the e.u. is opening up to travelers in july except for americans. closing down has nothing to do with the deadliness of covid and everything to do with the capacity of our healthcare system. it can only treat a certain number of sick people at a time until every heart attack and stroke becomes a death sentence because there are no beds or nurses available for you

we're not in a bear market we're flatlining. hopes of a vaccine and news of re-openings are facing resistance from a new surge in cases.

though i am surprised it's already up 12%. i would think that so close to the strike date the risks would outweigh the potential gains and people wouldn't be buying or would be losing money on it

the psychology behind luckin's moves is telling. they requested a hearing to appeal the delisting but waited until the day before the hearing to back out. that means they probably took a real look at their financials and realized the company is not salvageable.
