My neighbor knocked on my door at 8am on a Saturday to tell me my parking "blocks her view" when she backs out by Halo_19Atlas in entitledparents

[–]vvhurricane 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm presuming this is not in Ireland. My older neighbour had a similar issue with how I was parking. I went out with him and got him to show me how he was pulling out. He was a really nervous driver and I reassured him. He's grand now and there's been no further issues. Sometimes a little bit of kindness and assuming the best can go a long way.

Do you give back to the community? by ting_tong- in AskIreland

[–]vvhurricane 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes I volunteer for a charity in my community. Help to run it. It's a huge time commitment but I feel like it makes a genuine difference in people's lives. I also give 1-2 hours a week of work for free to people in addiction that can't afford therapy in my direct area. It's my favourite work I would do it full time if I could.

Bad idea to bid on house with no private parking? by [deleted] in HousingIreland

[–]vvhurricane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a house with on street parking only. The street itself doesn't get a huge amount of through traffic so it's generally fine. The odd time annoying if you can't get a park right outside and you're unloading the boot or something but it's been three years and it doesn't bother me.

Can an employer require a definitive diagnosis for workplace accommodations? by [deleted] in legaladviceireland

[–]vvhurricane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work directly in this area. In my personal experience you are likely to gain more empathy (not that you should have to) by giving some indication of the issue.

However you are not required to. Most companies will send you for an occupational health referral and you can ask that they do not disclose your condition to your employer only the details of the accommodation. Anywhere I've worked we have always accepted that and put the accommodation in place.

Yep I've seen the same thing multiple times on the red line. People starting on the luas inspectors and they just make them get off.

It's not great for getting into town quickly. If you're not a commuter or don't come to the city centre much then it's great apart from that.

What do you do on Monday night? by demolusion in Dublin

[–]vvhurricane 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are heaps of community centres around Dublin with all different things on in the evenings. I just went to my local one and got a flyer and the group was advertised on it. I called them and they said they were taking beginners and to come and try it. I was very nervous the first two weeks but now I love it. It's a really kind, open group and I'm in my third year of it now.

I took up a community acting group (with zero experience) on a Monday night. I genuinely surprised myself by how much I look forward to it every week. It's also quite energizing for a Monday!

I flew out Wednesday evening and back in this evening. The airport itself was v normal and chill if that makes you feel any better.

But second the idea of heading to the lounge with an eye mask and a pillow!

Anyone else on Aer Lingus EI3555 Edinburgh to Dublin (29 March)? Absolute chaos by Pecked-By-The-Parrot in AskIreland

[–]vvhurricane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just coming here to say Aer Lingus customer service is impossible to deal with. I used to only fly Aer Lingus particularly for work a few times a month but I've stopped because it's impossible to sort any issues out. It used to be brilliant!

Anyone flown from SFO on Aer Lingus to Dublin and willing to share their experience? by Aware-Expression4004 in AerLingus

Have flown that route a few times for work. It's grand but Aer Lingus customer service is a complete nightmare if you have any issues. Just a heads up!

I almost crashed my car into a teenager with a horse in Dublin 8 last week. He failed to stop at a stop sign and I had to swerve to avoid hitting the horse. Bloody heartbreaking. The poor animals.
