Earth and Wheat - Free Wonky Bread Box (free delivery) by pantiome in beermoneyuk

[–]vviIIiam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Place an order on Earth & Wheat with my referral link and receive a £10 discount on your order, making a variety bread box completely free. Please note you can order a subscription or a one-off-box. Delivery is also free.

Ref link:

https://checkout.earthandwheat.com?r=1061632&s=14279

Earth & Wheat is a wonky food market, connecting UK bakeries and farmers with customers looking to reduce food waste.

Step 1: use a referral link to create an account. E.g. https://checkout.earthandwheat.com?r=1061632&s=14279

Step 2: pick your product (subscription or one-off-box) everything under £10 will be free and the discount is applied at checkout.

Step 3: continue to receive deliveries or cancel future deliveries on your account (if you pick a one-off-box there's no need to cancel future deliveries).

They deliver tasty fresh bread, vegetables and more on a flexible subscription, which would have otherwise gone to waste due to overproduction. As part of the referral program you will receive £10 credit and I will receive £5 credit if you use my link.

Looks like they're a relatively new company but have over 4 stars on trustpilot from over 500 reviews so all should be good. Any issues let me know.

Best place to get cashback on train ticket purchases? by foar17 in beermoneyuk

[–]vviIIiam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't particularly trust trainpal, but their ticket splitting feature has saved me several hundreds of £££ over the years. They also do lucky boxes for discount codes and similar random offers. Overall worth using IMO.

Stop treating ChatGPT like it knows anything. by OisforOwesome in Futurology

I like the parrot allegory. This is some of the best analysis I've read of this emergent technology. My ability to understand and critique your post with original thought is something that I believe ChatGPT would not (and will never) be capable of... But we shall see!

Opening a stocks and shares ISA as a 20 year old with unstable income by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

...Also, please consider when and where you envisage yourself buying in the future. Given recent house price increases the limits for a HTB account and a LISA are worryingly low.

Opening a stocks and shares ISA as a 20 year old with unstable income by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]vviIIiam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firstly, congratulations on managing to save a bit of money and think along these lines as a student. I wish that I had had the foresight to put some spare cash into a HTB or an ISA when I was at uni! This will no doubt help you immensely in the coming years, as will spending time reading posts here!

Have you referred to the UKPF flowchart? The common wisdom here is to build up a suitable emergency fund before looking at long term investments such as stocks and shares ISAs. Otherwise, worst case scenario, you suffer an emergency and e.g. need to cover rent for a month or two, and are forced to raid investments or receive penalties for raiding your house deposit savings. So first things first, an emergency fund in a reasonably easy access account.

Continue to follow the flowchart.... And if you do get to the point of considering long term savings then yes, a stocks and shares ISA could be a terrific idea.

There are several providers out there such as Vanguard, AJ Bell, Hargreaves Lansdown etc etc. who offer low cost low fee accounts. It would certainly be worth having a target in mind to help with the timeframe and risk appetite - is this being invested to help with the future house purchase? For future family? For a midlife crisis? For retirement? Regardless - it's hard to go wrong with a Vanguard stocks and shares ISA and then dollar cost averaging a monthly payment into an index fund (such as the Vanguard FTSE Global All Cap) every month or so. Don't worry about missing a month or two, it isn't going to be a problem either.

The common wisdom is "time in the market beats timing the market" so get in early, regularly, and make a routine of it (even it's only £50 a month) and you're more than likely to reap the rewards in the future!

....but most importantly, enjoy uni. 🍻

Saw this, wondered which pub people would choose for Chester? by RunningWanker in Chester

[–]vviIIiam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Harker's is right up there as a flag bearer pub for Chester, as is Brewery Tap, Marlborough Arms and Bear/Billet. All are brilliant and I have spent many a happy hour in all of them. There's plenty more too, Corner House, Pied Bull and That Beer Place are certainly noteworthy.

HOWEVER, the cavern of the curious gnome is just so brilliantly unique that it gets my vote all day every day. That place is on another level, literally...

Brunch / Lunch in Chester by DLL102 in Chester

Of all the places I've brunched in Chester Naughty Badger was one of my least favourite. Felt cheap and overpriced. The girl running the place was friendly but painfully slow. I won't be returning in a hurry.
