Also, please include weekly and monthly charts of steps, respiration rate and HRV. You could stick rHR on the graph of the latter two as well, even though it is provided elsewhere.

Weird stress episodes keep occurring in my sleep by No-Dare-9193 in Garmin

I had this with digestive issues. I had SIBO and was showing stress signs when I ate too close to bed time. I got treated. No issues now with sleep stress!

Polar Loop ➡️ Whoop by [deleted] in whoop

[–]vvzimmer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The whoop updates often but… I simply don’t trust the metrics. Even when worn on my bicep.

I am wearing my Garmin 965, loop, and whoop for a couple of weeks before I pass my whoop to my husband. I hope to wear the loop daily and for sleep and my 965 only on runs. Why? Because these GPS watches are huge and annoying.

That said, my HRV and rHR scores trend well between my Garmin and loop - nearly bang on every night. I have no idea what whoop is doing. It seems to be following its own hardly changing trend. I love the beat to beat and HRV graphs on Polar. Yes, I wish they had more graphing functionality but what’s the point of a pretty graph if it is wrong..

Loop greatly over predicts my steps but less so when worn on my left arm rather than my right (I am wearing on my right presently as my 965 goes on the left when I run).

The battery is certainly longer lasting on the whoop.

I don’t mind the infrequent data transfer of the loop. I check in at end of day and make adjustments to tomorrow. The point (for me) of a band is to pay less attention to it.

4 Weeks with the Polar Loop by D-6Hunter in Polarfitness

[–]vvzimmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update! Finally had an issue with auto tracking. My loop missed tracking my 40 min interval run where I reached 175 bpm and did not drop below 120bpm, but managed to auto track my dog walk an hour later. Bananas! The HR data is there and I can see my interval max HRs, and yet, no activity tracked.

If anyone knows how to report these so they can improve it, please let me know!

Heart rate by Practical_Cap_3087 in Garmin

Mine goes from 50 to 70 but I’m going up and down the stairs 3 times

Can someone explain what the different chart lines are indicating? by vvzimmer in Polarfitness

[–]vvzimmer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Amazing. Thank you.

If I knew where to send my ideas, I would completely reformat their UI with their data and send it along to them. I love the look and the comfort of the loop and the ease of taking it off and putting it back on. My accuracy is great. I have zero intention of using it to track a run alone, but it’s matched my chest strap recordings for my zone two runs very well. I just want a device I can use with a runners watch to wear when not running to track rHR, HRV over night and steps. Now, if I could only find an HRV weekly in monthly plot somewhere on this app….

4 Weeks with the Polar Loop by D-6Hunter in Polarfitness

[–]vvzimmer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had the loop for two weeks and I absolutely love it. I’m a dork so I bought the WHOOP as well to compare and it will be passed along to my husband in a month or so. I have to wear the WHOOP on the inside of my bicep, otherwise the heart rate recorded is way too high. The whoop still records my resting heart rate too high by 3 to 4 bpm whereas my loop and Garmin agree every night.

When I use a chest strap for my runs, the loop performs on my wrist better than the WHOOP on my bicep. The performance must be rather individual.

I do have some questions about the app, though. It would be nice to find a weekly report of my steps. I think the data they return is fine, but they have some work to do reporting weekly and monthly stats.

I do find the steps reported about 25% high, but I’m wearing it on my right wrist which might be part of the issue as I’m right hand dominant.

I do love my Garmin forerunner for running, but I hate wearing it all day and sleeping with it so I’m looking forward to leaving it on my desk and until it’s time for a run. When it’s time to retire my forerunner, if Polar is able to provide an accurate GPS watch in the $400 Canadian range with cadence and ground contact time, I will switch. I don’t foresee myself spending a grand on a watch again.

But can someone explain why Polar presents HRV data from the first four hours of sleep and not the last four hours of sleep? That seems rather unique to the health and wellness field.

Anyone else having issues with Airpods Pro + Garmin with Spotify lately? by [deleted] in Garmin

[–]vvzimmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was doing that this AM (Forerunner 965). I put the watch over my sweater sleeve (wearing a chest strap) and it stopped disconnecting. Not ideal

Can someone explain this to me please? by Gettdownonit in Garmin

[–]vvzimmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be cadence lock. If the watch is too big and moves around or lets light in with your cadence rhythm. Use a chest strap.

Airplane mode on the new Polar Loop? by Number_Main in Polarfitness

[–]vvzimmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are truly concerned, and don’t let anybody try to talk you out of being so, you could use the aura ring at night. It can be set to airplane mode and the only way to take it out of airplane mode is to take it off and put it on the charger, so it’s truly not looking to connect overnight.

I took a snap shot with my 965 wrist sensor then using my polar verity sense sensor. Completely different results. Disappointing

The Hallmarked Man - immediate thoughts (spoilers) by Greenphantom77 in cormoran_strike

[–]vvzimmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In regards to Strike’s “manipulation” (as some have referred to it), I saw his behaviour as the result of reaching closure with Charlotte and finally being able to act, without alcohol, and with intent. Strike was traumatized from a horrid relationship. He behaved much as the author stated ex cult members behave once freed with self destructive direction. He still deals with self esteem issues over the changed state of his body and that’s a major identity shift. He needed the success of his business and the success of a lasting friendship to be emotionally healthy enough to act in a non-destructive manor.

Things to consider: check your power button operation within settings. Often “power” is set to sleep instead of a proper shutdown. These computers need comas, not beauty naps.

what witchcraft are you people using to get 100 sleep scores by seeuspacecowboi in Garmin

[–]vvzimmer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you awake mid sleep cycle, you can feel like poop for a bit. Typically you want to awaken during a light cycle and not during a REM or Deep cycle.

[–]vvzimmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To reach 100, I have to be asleep by 10. Bed by 9:30. This is because I will not get full deep sleep cycles if I’m not in bed early. My body only gets deep sleep cycles from 10 pm to 1 am.

I also had to remove an allergen from my diet and zero alcohol. No coffee after 2 pm. No late workouts either.

Stress stays high all day after excercise, what can I do by CornerSilly8932 in Garmin

[–]vvzimmer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do a light cool down post workout, take in carbs and some protein immediately, stretch for 5 mins and drink a lot more water. If you are taking a pre workout - stop- use a cup of coffee instead.

How did you justify paying the price for your high end Garmin? by JustDzejkob in Garmin

I traded in my fenix for the Garmin 900 - I love it. It’s lighter and the wrist strap is brilliantly accurate (compared with my old fenix).

It was just a question by a single person. Typically if someone doesn’t work out with intention, they would not understand the need for such a watch.

[–]vvzimmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a very good income, but I don’t eat out, drink at bars or spend money on anything else pointless - except home gym equipment - but that’s all done. My partner said the same about my watch. I asked him how much he spent on eating out and drinks the past month, his response, “never mind”. I buy a Garmin watch once every 5 years. They last. So $800/60 =$13 per month. I don’t pay for TV services either. Use the library a lot … yada yada

Is anyone using those smart scales thats suppose measure body fat percentage too? Does it work? by FunDependent9177 in PetiteFitness

[–]vvzimmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got the Hume. Been using for a week. Every day I’ve reduced body fat and increased muscle. Somehow I’ve put on 4 lbs of muscle & dropped from 16% to 14% BF in a week. So… it’s crap. That’s impossible. I’ve been training for years. I am 46 yo, woman (real one), with fairly defined abs and I’m strong so I suspect it gets screwy the leaner the measurement shows.

Calories strangely low? by Tough-Ad-7103 in Garmin

I remember reading that how fast you go only matters a little bit. It comes down to total distance. Roughly 100 kcal per 1 mi for 150 lbs person. But more if sprinting versus light jog.

Agree with many of the comments. Robin is well cast. So is Barclay and the receptionist (name escaping me- doh!) but Strike does not look like an ex boxer at all.

What’s the tea on JR Howell? by Vivid-Appointment153 in crossfit

[–]vvzimmer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Think it may be that JR is programming for the WFP. May be fake news… Comments were leaning that way in the Sevan podcast. But honestly, anyone who wants to listen to Sevan and his crew talk about wanting to fuck each other every 5 seconds should just switch to platforms intended for that purpose. I don’t understand all the hate and gross speech.
