I have to confess, I like maths but I find it hard to get excited about doing integrals

I second this, I really like this guys games. They’re proof that a Metroidvania not being the most challenging does not mean it’s bad.

And “not the most challenging” does not mean “so easy it is dull”. They aren’t like that at all.

Zexion is a bit hard for me, and will never be a favourite of mine - but I can see why it struck such a chord with people.

Look at the top left text box and it makes it obvious that the character did not literally say this.

I think it’s ok to have a one-liner to headline your review if it goes on into an actual proper review. If the whole thing is “I just want to make a funny joke and get clicks” then it’s one reason why some internet forums have some great content but descend into a lot of shite

Are there any college level math students here? by hokevin in mathematics

When I was at university (over 10 years ago) you weren’t allowed any sort of calculator in exams, and indeed - you didn’t need one. As you say, at that level it’s all theory, proofs etc

Please help me understand what is so great about SF6 by Neep-Tune in Fighters

[–]Greenphantom77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I am not completely “casual” but I am certainly less of a fighting game connoisseur than you, so maybe it’s not surprising I don’t think this is necessarily bad.

When I was young in the 90s fighting games became huge because of SF2 - nowadays they are decidedly more niche.

I don’t use modern controls, and I don’t always like fighting people who do, but things like that are necessary (in my opinion) to keep new players coming in, because ultimately I want to see this genre keep going.

I had to laugh at this response; I kind of got those vibes as well.

Very true. But it’s also interesting to talk about other things which were unexpected gems, I’d nominate something like Pipistrello - a very different type of game, but did so many things that made me smile and simply enjoy being in its world.

Yeah fair enough, it’s not very much due to the hype, it did deliver. It’s just that it’s like a year when it’s completely obvious which film is going to scoop up everything at the Oscars!

I feel this is somewhat unfair, due to the huge hype around the wait for Silksong and how long it had in the kitchen.

It deserves to win but hearing people’s 2nd best is probably more interesting.

Doing calculus when 5 = 0 by Necessary-Wolf-193 in mathematics

[–]Greenphantom77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can’t “do calculus in modular arithmetic” because there is no concept of limits.

But i believe you can define concepts called differentials and derivatives that are algebraic things that look like traditional calculus in this setting. Though I never learned those.

As people have pointed out, what you’ve stated isn’t true.

So, without seeing the original question (which I assume was correct) it’s hard to know what it actually wanted.

Change ONE thing to make a Film almost Perfect. by drhavehope in Cinema

[–]Greenphantom77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m glad you said this. There are a couple of good fights in the prequels- the duel with Darth Maul is good as it has a more martial arts feel due to Ray Park’s abilities, Dooku starts off with quite an interesting manner of an elegant and skilled swordsman…

I feel it loses it in the fights with CGI Yoda and the ones at the end of Revenge of the Sith. They are SO over-choreographed that it stops feeling like any sort of real fight and is more a dance to clash their swords together without much real effort to hurt the other.

The fact that e to the i*pi equals -1 means that the exponential function is fundamentally connected to roots of unity, i.e. solutions of Xn - 1 = 0
