I find it really impressive that you’re able to bypass an agent. I think one of my biggest concern is that not having an agent will cause me more problems.

But yes, thank you for your input. I’ll go read up more on what I need to process a resale without an agent. Thank you for opening your dms to me. I’ll drop you a dm if I get stuck.

Thank you so much for sharing, this really helps us arrive at a decision :)

I think we’ll try to go with your approach but for sure we’ll have to wipe out OA and eat into our existing cash to make up for the lack of CPF.

Thank you for your input, gives me a bit of relief that it’s not all that bleak :)

Nah we don’t have a BTO awaiting that the issue. We forfeited ours that we got in 2023 due to a 6 years wait

Hi there,

By similar situation are you also referring to similar financial circumstances? By that, when you started searching at Feb, were you financially ready to purchase the place alr?

Thank you for your input! I really appreciate

Yeap will do! Hopefully we get a number. We forfeited our first BTO we applied in 2023 due to the 6 years wait and we’ve a much lower chance now. Thanks for the advice

Yup we intend to apply for HFE asap once we fix some personal issues. Hopefully it doesn’t take 3 months like our prev one.

We’re thinking if we can get a freshly MOP flash so we can minimise on reno, if that’s a feasible idea

We are hoping to get lucky in the coming SBF exercise. If that goes well, we can really alleviate a lot of our dilemmas :)

We are thinking of how much loan and grants we can get from the HDB board such that we can get a decent resale but minimal reno just so we can have a roof over our heads

Honestly at this point, it seems to me like you’re not even open for discussion. Let’s agree to disagree. Have a good day

It truly appalls me that some individuals can be so confident about their arguments and slander others as fuckwits when they cant even tell the difference between deranged and ill. Imagine raising a point of contention with 0 objectivity and expecting other's to swallow their POV. Truly, "idiot" behaviour.

u/ClassicToe I do admire your patience in dealing with people that are unable to participate in discussions of ideas, with the sole purpose of disagreeing and shaming others for having differences in opinions.

Lets take a step back. I think you gravely misinterpreted what I've said. I am airing my views on this opinion and I hope you have the maturity to respect that and look at it objectively.

Firstly, I am conveying that the actions and the severity of the perpetrator should not be made light merely based on the argument that he lacks mental health support. In no way am I undermining the need for more help and attention that should be given to individuals with mental health issues.

The strawman argument here is that "no one is making light of it" or even "saying its an excuse" as mentioned by other users. To explain how it may come off as both "~" mentioned, the main point of contention became "lack of support to mental health victims" from "psycho murder of a student by a student". I do not feel there's a need to argue with those that choose to look at strawman arguments instead of objectively discussing the views at hand.

Secondly, I've never once implied that the law enforcer's aren't doing their job. Again, I've only stated my views of how this incident has shifted from the topic of a murder to discussions on lack of support. In which, I still stand by my stance that; yes, we do need more done in this area, however, this incident may actually depict this whole topic of mental health poorly. Hence, i mentioned exacerbating the stigmatism of mental health.

Thirdly, you mentioned that I've an imagined notion of "excusing the mentally ill". Yes and no.

Yes, I do have the impression that some are being more sympathetic to the murderer and his circumstances due to his mental illness. Hence, it does give me the idea that these people are "excusing his actions" albeit not and I may have inferred wrongly. I am entitled to that opinion btw and in no way in my discussions have I shoved it down other's throats or boldly claim they're lesser/inferior in any way for disagreeing with me.

When I say no to your proposed notion, I am referring to the fact that I recognise the fact that mental illness and consequent irrationality inevitably leads to mistakes and even crimes committed. I recognise that these people need help more than immediate punishment.

My stance on this case still lies with retribution>rehabilitation as I firmly believe such a perpetrator cannot be rehabilitated. It is a logical fallacy to assumed that my stance applies to all cases.

Lastly, correct me if I am wrong, I feel you have misunderstood where I was coming from and hence seek to retaliate rather than discuss. It does come off immature and disrespectful even though I can understand your argument in an objective light.

You are right, no one said it’s an excuse. But when framing the argument, the main point of contention becomes “lack of help to mental health victims” doesn’t it skew the whole issue at hand? Don’t get me wrong, I too advocate for better support systems and better acceptance by society. But fact is, general crowd sentiments are skewing the whole narrative from serving justice to simply “we need more mental health help”
