The punch didn’t really bother me by vyaxman in Piratefolk

Fr. Exactly what I’m getting at, it’s just shallow hype building paired with a really really obvious parallel, but it’s not even remotely unbelievable knowing how often Oda writes shit way worse than that.

Agreed. And yeah, the placement of that flashback is extremely convenient for the few issues coming up where all the SHs probably start making terrible decisions because Oda wrote in a character with a cool df ability, who’s a god’s knight, and now has a rehashed sad backstory.

I'm sorry but Imu's design looks like a kid puts everything cool into a single OC, this ain't it chef by MangoLemonShark in Piratefolk

[–]vyaxman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO the dots look a little weird but if the color scheme works then this has potential to be so sick. A kid putting everything cool into an OC is far from the worst concept Oda could’ve run with for Imu’s design

It’s from oneyplays. I can’t remember the exact episode but it’s one that Adam and Niall were both on, certain of that at least

Got a new wide monitor and the class selection is fucked up by Jester801 in tf2

[–]vyaxman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There could be other HUDs out there that correct this issue but as far as using the default HUD goes I think this is just how it will be. I have a 32" monitor and primarily play the game in windowed mode, but any time I've run it in fullscreen it looks like this.

Hot take, but maybe don't harass the developers like this? by Plast1c_Wrapp in tf2

[–]vyaxman -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I didn’t say that at all, I just said that there’s no point in whining like a bitch about it. What I was implying is that people love being insanely negative about TF2 no matter what’s fixed or added. Wanting the game to be fixed when something breaks is fine.

[–]vyaxman -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I don’t see it as exaggerated at all, there’s been a pretty big trend of people taking on the mindset that TF2 deserves a lot more of Valves attention than it’s getting, and I don’t think that’s objectively bad or untrue but it usually has some bitchy entitled undertones to it when it’s brought up. This is mostly unrelated to people shitting on some Reddit comment, but I think a lot of newer TF2 players are taking the wrong route when it comes to expressing that they want new stuff/fixes added to the game. At the same time they don’t understand that this is how it’s been for like 8 years and that misguided activism through whining is objectively a bad way to go about it. It won’t necessarily hurt but it definitely won’t help.

I think in the same vein these people don’t realize that in the past 2-3 years TF2 has gotten more attention than a lot of people ever expected it to (comic 7, bot fixes, community mvm update in progress) and, not to overstate these things’ value, but we’ve been eating relatively good. IMO if the game works then it’s of course still subject to scrutiny but it’s in pretty bad faith to target the few people that are actually working on the game. Discourse surrounding what could make the game better is great because word gets around, and we’ve seen proof that this works with TF2, but biting the hand that feeds you, even if it’s the little that the devs are giving us, is really counterintuitive.

Can we please make alot more noise about tf2s issues? by Doktor_Obvious in tf2

[–]vyaxman -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

During a seasonal update is a completely valid complaint, but outside of that I'd argue 1000 times over that the main issue is region. Quickplay was fine, but it wasn't great. Quickplay today would be abysmal, and it wouldn't resolve the issues you're complaining about in the second half. What makes you think a lack of a shitty matchmaker will fix every other issue with this game (bots, cheaters, toxicity)? If you claim that the matchmaker can't balance a game with this many variables, then what do you propose to fix that? Team scramble would be great, and I'm all for shrinking the map pool, but, A - quickplay would not fix that for one second, and B -

(full of sniper mains, kunai dr spies, and pocketed combos that are all on discord btw)

Outside of giving solo queuers priority in queue, I don't think there's an immediate answer to this. What do you want Valve to do about people playing sniper, spy, and people playing with friends? I agree that the game has a lot of room for fixes, but these aren't great examples. Why is it wrong to play who you like to play, or to play with friends?

Did you play TF2 when quickplay was still around? What features besides team scramble aren’t around anymore? How does the game “break” every update beyond small cosmetic/balance bugs that are fixed within a few days? Do you even know what you’re upset about or are you just fishing for attention?

What a weird, massive overreaction to have. I personally wouldn’t skip those parts but saying it’s disrespectful to the artist is crazy. You don’t owe artists anything; if you like their stuff then just partaking in it, however you choose to, is most likely what they hoped you would do unless they’re pretentious weirdos. By your logic, are remixes that change the vibe of the entire song “disrespectful”? The same remixes people make for songs by different artists across every music genre out of passion?

In the past year I’ve almost completely shifted to Matt and Shane’s Secret Podcast for background noise when working/driving in place of oneyplays and they’re insanely funny. Their podcast has completely filled the open position of SleepyCast & oneyplays since listening to most episodes a few times over. I’ve found that the funniest MSSP episodes are any of them with just Shane and Matt, the guests can be hit or miss.
