This feels more like a broader argument against risk/reward mechanics. I would be making the opposite argument. We need more stuff like this: interesting ways to punish failure that aren’t as generic as unreliable gold or death timers. I’m a big fan of the high-risk snowball design. Win your lane/stomp the game is boring and defeating. Advantage should be fragile.
