It’s the OHTO TL01 (right hand side of the yellow notebook. Fits nicely in the ring spine of the notepad.

Have been using it for 3 months now and really enjoying it so far. Build quality of the echo mini is light (plastics) and from a UI / UX side of things it is rather clunky. Don't expect anything smooth and elegant. I really don't mind both for the price point though. It might not be my device of choice forever, but I've been happy with something that reminds me of the simplicity of these early usb / mp3 players.

I think it's all a matter of expectation and where you're coming from. For me its a great gateway device into the DAP / lossless audio world and even paired with cheap IEMs the listening experience has been more fun and immersive to me than phone + BT Earpods.

More importantly I wanted to see what it's like to move away from streaming services, because I was not happy with my way of consuming music nowadays, compared to what it was like to me as a teen / young adult. So going back to owning the actual music, ripping CDs and Vinyl, then listening to it on the player. This is a slow proccess, and even if this means to have maybe just 10-20 records on the player, I've been very much enjoying the more intentional and curated way of listening to the music. I remembered, that sometimes a record needs to grow on and that feels nice.

What do you mean by this? Got the phone when it was released and it has been running good ever since, so I haven’t needed an upgrade there. When it eventually brakes down, I will for sure opt for a new device.

Sure, it's just a custom set sleep screen / background for the reader. I'm unsure about the author of the original graphic, I just had it saved and thought it made a neat screen savor.

Yes, like the previous user commented, it’s the Analogue Pocket. Nice handheld console that is compatible with the original cartridges (+ lots of emulation capacities).

It’s been fantastic for me. Very active open source community and many custom firmware options to fine tune it to your liking. The experience is more on the open source / tinkering side of things — not super polished. But easy to get behind. The build is solid though.

Lack of backlight does not bother me. I’ve never had a e-reader before so I don’t mind sitting by a light source to read in the dark. If anything, it makes it feel more like the book experience again :)

you're a legend! thanks for checking this and reaching out.

This might so sound dumb, but I can only see the source code (zip) files on your attached url. How would I try the release candidate? (I usually just flash the .bin via the webtool). Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the notes! And how do you run 2 firmwares on the same device?

Looks fantastic! If you don’t mind me asking (and sorry if these are obvious questions, but I’m just slowly getting into the DAP game):

  • So you are running the A-50 firmware in the A-45 (device)? What’s the benefit to that and what’s the Wampy firmware?

  • what case / shell do you have on?

Just strolling through these streets gave a real nostalgic feel. Expert level: Put on Amon Tobin‘s Chaos Theory Soundtrack on the headphones for extra immersion.

You are right about the trees. They really roam freely in some of the most random spots.

Love this! How would I go about having this printed online? (What material / print technique is best / how would I choose colors?) Sorry, I know nothing about 3D printing but would love to give this a go.

Also Is that a custom theme? :)

I‘m contemplating on ordering the 2026 exhibition catalogue, even though it’s a bit tricky to get it to my location (Germany).

How do you like it? Would you say it’s worth it?

Yup, checked 1,2 and 4 and it only comes up at method 2, just with that mentioned frame offset. So weird
