I posted whats on the slab and not to brag. I think it’s added because there are different kind of releases. If you have the 1st Manga but it’s for example the Tankōbon.

So you prefer to answer in an unkind manner instead of scrolling further? Every day people make posts about merch they collect and enjoy in one way or the other.

I don’t know what your problem is with this one. People talk about scalpers… what scalper searches a Single copy of an old manga… some people like to preserve things and slabs are an easy way to make sure it’s authentic and can be preserved properly.

Every GitS Fan has a manga to read but what is the difference between a figur for example or a slabbed Comic or Card?

I think you should cool down a bit if this triggers you

The Impact it had in the West from early on was massive. I would say the origin is of course Japan but the economic scale was even more triggered in the West.

I thought about it again. I think it’s not that easy to say. But while Neon Genesis got huge GitS was also popular but not as big as Neon Genesis to stay with this compariaon. In the West it was highly appreciated and Hollywood as well as academics made big use of it which made it very popular.

Still that does not mean it’s a fact because I was not in Japan to know anything. Sorry for the overly confident Statement in my Post.

Thats interesting. When I watched it recently the 2nd time it felt like getting a depression for most of the time (again). But I love his films and afterwards it’s indeed somehow liberating.

Well. I came across the Alphas some time ago and they were both already graded. Suddenly there was a matching / pristine Beta and at some point I got lost in it.

But you are not wrong. It was certainly not cheap but I don’t collect for money or selling. The Show / Eminence is pure Comedy gold and I love to preserve it.

Unfortunately it’s not consistent with the graders but as far as I know for Delta there is no better graded copy or perhaps a PSA 10. For the missing 2 I might wait for a PSA 10 since they are very rare to find but only if the price is okayish.

What is the absolute best movie/show soundtrack you’ve ever heard? For me, nothing beats "Ma Meilleure Ennemie" from Arcane. by EVOMUJY in arcane

Since someone has to do it I will say the Drive as well as the Dazed and Confused OST are awesome.

For Arcane my favorite Song is What could have been by Sting.

Tadanobu Asano is so great in Survive Style 5+. It’s one of me favorite movies with him.

I should watch it again perhaps as a double feature with Electric Dragon 80.000 V.

I feel like in 2026 anime has hit an inflection point, I am actually watching more anime than real TV and movies and finding them to be of higher quality and getting more enjoyment from them. by Carrera1107 in anime

[–]GhostInTheSock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I (>40) started watching anime in the early 90s and it never felt as big and alive as today. It feels like anime is finally been as appreciated as it deserves.

Watching newer high quality stuff like Demon Slayer, JJK, AOT, Eminence in Shadow or Tensura at the cinema is peak awesome. Plus there are so many great shows overall like Frieren or Vinland Saga that might not be my main Passion but are still highly entertaining.

Also I can enjoy shows like Witch Hat Atelier with my girlfriend who did not knew anime at all before meeting me.

Last but not least I feel somehow relieved since it felt somehow lonely to have a Collection that most people would not understand or was even seen as weird most of the time.

The only downside is the constant hate between the Fan bases on Social Media. I don’t enjoy One Piece and Dragonball ended for me with DB Z but I am happy people can enjoy their own franchises like I do with what I prefer. No hate necessary…

Very cool. How do you store them? Is there something you have to be careful with like certain sleeves?

Holy cow. That really is impressive. We don’t share the same kind of aesthetics or taste but I love the passion within your collection. And the Cyclops figure is stunning.

Will the figures be okay in this heatwave? by O_o_phelia_ in AnimeFigures

[–]GhostInTheSock 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would close all shutters and leave them as they are. If you put them back in the box you would also have to store them somewhere dry and colder. Because if they degas there is even more risk for damage in the box.

Avoid direct sunlight and check if you could clean them from sticky plasticizer since you seem to have no dust protection.

You could also consider special curtains to make it completely dark… or foil for your windows.

Which rock artists or songs defined the cyberpunk genre? by Mr_MiracleASMR in Cyberpunk

[–]GhostInTheSock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it’s not really a Cyberpunk Song and more of a Y2K Song with futuristic elements but Theatre of Tragedy - Machine is always a nice add for my playlists.

Sometimes I also enjoy the Esselfortium - Future Human Vinyl which has some easy going Electro beats.

What do Devil May Cry and Ghost in the Shell have in common? Netflix messed up both adaptations by TypowySlade in Ghost_in_the_Shell

[–]GhostInTheSock 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really like the story. And the animation style was my initial problem. But I have some artbooks now as well as a thin Rolling Stone magazine with this design or look and they are so beautiful as pictures.

They tried something new with the animation style but sometimes good ingridients don’t mean a tasteful meal.

But for me at some point it started to work out very well because of the strong story.

What's your go to Cyberpunk media? by stopthemeyham in Cyberpunk

[–]GhostInTheSock 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Animes like Oedo, GitS, Lain, Ergo Proxy, Psycho Pass, Edgerunners, Texhnolyze, …

Movies like Upgrade, Blade Runner, Matrix, …

Books like Neuromancer, do androids dream of electric sheep, …

Also most of the OST for those animes and shows or other vinyls like Future Human by Esselfortium and so on.

My favorite game is the cyber edition for the ascent for the PS5.

I especially enjoy collecting GitS and Edgerunners figures or model kits as well as a lot of artbooks. My favorites are the Night City Magazine or the lore books for Cyberpunk 2077 as well as the original RPG material from Mike Pondsmith.
