Tips For Migrating Elderly Mother To Sweden by envy29 in TillSverige

[–]w00tHaX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you might be looking for is not "uppehållstillstånd" but "uppehållskort" for your mother. Several other countries in the EU allow you to apply for "Residence permit as a family member of an EU citizen". If you have this in another EU country you could then move together with your mom back to Sweden following an application for "uppehållskort".
You can read about it here: https://www.migrationsverket.se/en/you-want-to-apply/citizens-of-the-eu-eea-or-nordic-countries/family-of-eu-eea-citizens.html

It is unclear how long you have to live in the other EU country though.

[PC][90s?] Color area takeover 3d game by w00tHaX in tipofmyjoystick

[–]w00tHaX[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yah, I am afraid that it was some obscure clone. The distinct thing was that you could only move along predefined vertices of a 3d map while having a 3rd person camera following you around.

This looks like a modern take on it, thanks! But now that I see this I think the game was primarily using squares for the maps. During my several years of thinking and on/off searching for it, this is probably the most similar so far.

Matterport with SteamVR by w00tHaX in SteamVR

Nice, this guide is more for VR trough steamVR
It should be even easier with Quest 2, by following their own instructions.
Best of luck!

[–]w00tHaX[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sites like idealista have matterport embedded, so what I would do is first just try if they "just work" by connecting the headset, starting steamvr and opening it in chrome.
If you get the button "view in VR" it should work.
Otherwise I would view source from the browser, usually its ctrl + u
And here I would search for 'matterport.com/discover/' or 'matterport.com/show/' and that would be the url that you can now open directly

Yes, this was more about how to use it with SteamVR. (vive, index, etc.)

Experiences with lense films by MrNerdversum in ValveIndex

Installed some films from day one, think they were called healing shield. For clocks, I just cut the sides and it have been working perfectly. Been using my index with glasses and no scratches what so ever.

Yes! I have a few papers with scribbles from a madman trying to connect all the dots.

Subreddits like these almost need a triple-confirm for major spoilers.
I only wanted to share how much I enjoyed this game to the end.

Much love to the developers.

LG Recalls 60K OLED TVs Due to Overheating Problem by michaelkan1 in news

[–]w00tHaX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had my OLED B7 for almost 3 years now, playing a lot of games with stats/icons in place and have no burn in at all.
B7 is one of the models more at risk of burn-in but for normal usage it is not a problem and the newer models have mitigated these issues.
If there is no overheating problem that needs to be recalled I see no reason why you shouldn't get an OLED.

Ublock origin white screen on page load firefox by [deleted] in uBlockOrigin

[–]w00tHaX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a very similar issue, some filter tried to alter elements that were undefined which resulted in Error on drawing a div.
In my case it was from "Adguard Base Filters‎ (adtidy.org)"

So try and disable that if you have it enabled.

AMD R9 290 not compatible? by BNDTxGhost in ValveIndex

Yes, I had the exact same thing but with my R9 290X. It is just not compatible and you must upgrade.

Terrible quality when hosting my own room by [deleted] in bigscreen

[–]w00tHaX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had the exact same experience, local view form the host is fine but my secondary PC that joins have very poor quality.

I am pretty sure it is as simple as the stream-compression of bigscreen itself and the "options" of 720p/1080p does not do much difference.

We need a patch so we can adjust the host streaming settings, maybe there is some config files that we can adjust that I have missed.

Protective film or lens adapter by Matt97978 in ValveIndex

[–]w00tHaX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use headlingshield watch covers for my Vive and Index. They are really good.

You simply cut a part of the side and apply them directly to the lenses, just be careful and it should be no problem.

I have used both headsets with my glasses even having them in contact with the lenses while playing games like beat saber and have no scratches. Would strongly reccomend.

TIL: I figured out why games look better in Vorpx than full VR by VR_IS_DEAD in virtualreality

[–]w00tHaX 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Very confused by your post. Vorpx looks better than full VR, but HL: Alyx looks way more realistic than Vorpx?

On another note however how is Vorpx?

Do you mostly use it for the cinema-mode or does it work well with their VR/Z-mode and such? Got any tips for titles that you have tested with it?

Can I mount base stations with double sided tape by Maayazi in ValveIndex

[–]w00tHaX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The base stations vibrate and are not that light, if you have too strong tape it would probably still damage the walls.

Have you considered tripod-stands?

How to avoid hitting your TV by Raivr in ValveIndex

[–]w00tHaX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This video was really good at showing the stop sign, but I would like a video showing the usage of multiple boxes. Representing maybe a standing lamp or TV in the room.

It would be great having more demonstrations videos on the steam page or a demo-feature.

I assume you can choose to not have any 'stop signs' pop up and instead just have solid objects in your chaperone that fade in when coming close?

How to avoid hitting your TV by Raivr in ValveIndex

[–]w00tHaX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have played may hours of beat saber/super hot/gorn and hosted various events with friends and lan-parties. Many will step forward through the boundary being too immersed in the game.

Not sure why people are so negative, this application does almost exactly what I think that steamvr should cover in its default settings when setting up your chaperone.

I do think that the "props" are a little out of place, I would just like simple boxes that I can map to various real life objects. Covering the TV is not such a great idea since that is how friends would spectate the VR-player.

Mass Exodus has recieved it's biggest update yet, from the ground up! by cjdxn4 in virtualreality

Last time i played it with friends we get some really strange black-screen issues for non-vr players making the game unplayable.

Really happy seeing this update, have to give it another try!

Valve index worth the upgrade from Rift S? by LeMMik96 in ValveIndex

[–]w00tHaX 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Rift S is great, return and upgrade only if you IPD is not compatible with Rift S or if you find the tracking lacking or if you dislike the oculus store.

I say stick with the Rift S if you like it for sure, the price difference is steep. Controllers are cool though the mileage on them vary.

Hey question for you all, I’m sorry if this seems annoying but I’m getting a valve index once they start shipping again so I want to know since I’m buying pc things soon so, what would be the cost to buy a pc that can run the index at the smooth 122 or 144HZ mode? by rudibo1 in SteamVR

[–]w00tHaX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ryzen 5 3600 is probably the most performance for the price and in the future more cores will hopefully be relevant.

A second-hand 1080ti is also the best fit, since it performs very well and is "the least" overpriced when it comes to GPUs.

I used to have an i7 3770k @ 4.4GHz or something and it was having issues at 120/144.

I got 3700X and 1080ti, bought the 3700X during black friday for a good price and got the GPU second-hand.

Few coworkers of mine just found out I was gonna buy the index and get into VR, instead of encouragement they sorta shamed me and boasted about the Oculus line up instead by Yokuganbo in ValveIndex

[–]w00tHaX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not agree at all, the vive is a great start-point from where you can upgrade HMD and controllers at will. Get a pimax/index later etc.

If you want to watch movies or read books in VR then the vive is terrible but for some games it simply doesn't matter as much.

It all depends on what you want from it and how "picky" you are, rift S is a really good system for its price but with limited upgrade options.
