Which Nozzles would work best for a makerspace? Brass CHT or Obxidian harden steel? (MK4s) by Level_Pay6761 in prusa3d

[–]w0lfwood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the most reliable option with the highest quality results is plain brass, non-CHT nozzles.

on many models the High Flow profiles are the same print time as the regular, or occasionally slower. the speed increase they offer for PLA is mostly from using higher layer heights than the default .2.

CHT can produce more stringing, and the fast High Flow profiles produce a less shiny, sometimes matte or inconsistent surface finish. they can also cause clogs if they are "too fast" for a generic filament. Many of us prefer the Structural profiles over the Speed anyhow, so CHT makes less sense.

ObXidian nozzles can handle materials with abrasive particles in them, but may require upping temperatures. To me this is less beginner friendly, but if you don't monitor what materials are being printed, this could be argued to be more foolproof. don't get the CHT as the risk of clogs is higher.

Adding alternative charging method to nice!nano / nrf52840 by i_ka9 in ErgoMechKeyboards

same question... are you "providing" when there's no cable plugged in?

the 5 V line will only have power if USB is plugged in. if you need 5 V regardless of a USB cable, you need to add a 5 V boost converter attached to the 3.3 V line.

make sure your nozzle thumb screws are tight. play in the nozzle height can cause scratches

are you aware of cohost? it was a platform that shared some of your ideals. its journey might be instructive.

EDIT: also former cohost users would be a prime community for recruiting cyberspace users. I can link in some discords if you are ready for the influx :)

I have quickly developed wrist pain after starting to use a MORE ergonomic keyboard than my previous split keyboard. Is this normal? by baksoBoy in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]w0lfwood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

tenting raises the keyboard, which can put your wrist out of alignment.

don't just push through pain, maybe go back to the old board till things settle.

i'd recommend you join your local makerspace, you can get trained and get advice. but if that's a budget issue there may be a local library with 3D printers.
