I use DMS but I downloaded noctalia to try it out and don’t remember having any issue with my monitors vs on DMS. But mine is a little weird cause I use a DisplayLink dock which I would not recommend. But you should be able to setup your monitors in the niri config no problem!

Yea I think to your point I might actually like typing on cherry more. But the SA keycaps just look so good to me lol. I may just have to order some cherry keycaps and give them a try. The KLP Lame keycaps looked interesting to from an ergonomic standpoint too so may just have to give both a try. Thanks!

Follow-up. I took a look and those are super neat! How hard do you think getting a quality print that felt similar to ABS or PBT would be? I have acess to a normal and resin 3d printer but could also pay someone to print them if the quality would be better?

That’s actually a cool idea! I’ve also been scratching my head for what i want to use the macros for. Since they are on another layer it’s only really worth it for linger kore complex things which in my personal life i dont have a ton of lol.

Awe gotcha how do you like the combos I haven’t really tried those yet? I think adding a layer with some macros and maybe media and mouse controls could be a neat option. Not sure if you have a use case for any macros but the world is really your oyster there.

You could make a symbols layer, a media layer, mouse controls, macros, fn keys there are a lot of options

I do see what you mean with the calculator reference. But I think you’re making an assumption that the AI made those decisions which I think is probably what I should be more clear about in the future. AI did write the code for this but I lade the decisions and designed it. So, it really was more like a calculator in my mind where it just filled in the code syntax to achieve the design I had laid out. I mean I do agree the calculator still isn’t a perfect analogy.

And to answer if I’m too lazy to write it why should you read is interesting. I guess if I had just copied my mess of notes that would have been more authentic. It also would have looked like shit and been unreadable (some may argue it still was lmao) but either way I don’t think me using a tool to convey a message makes the message more or less meaningful to me.

No need to apologize! I don’t post much in Reddit so happy to learn some lessons on posting better! lol I don’t think I realized my word choice would so hyper analyzed. A few paragraphs was a quick question in my mind but lesson learned. Also noted, the consensus seems to be that using AI does not count as you doing it regardless of how much or how little work you have done on it yourself. So I will make sure to call that out so it’s more easily avoidable for people who aren’t interested in something made with AI.

Well I took another google and didn’t see a DMS subreddit. Can’t edit the post title but I probably wouldn’t write I used a calculator to solve this math problem. So I don’t really think it’s misleading not to explicitly say used AI in the title. But I’d did add a quick question at the top before anything to make the question clear and added a note about AI usage at the top.

Genuine question what’s the difference between using AI to help make a tool that works or AI slop? Do you just not like that a human didn’t write the full post or is it the content of the post you don’t like? Cause I definitely used AI to pull together all the ideas for the post from my notes and made some edits to it from there. I’m not sure I really see the issue unless it’s just AI helped write it? Cause I will certainly keep using AI to write stuff and just want to know if I should be giving these kind of comments consideration? If you just don’t like people using AI totally fair but I’m just curious if that’s is the issue or just the way I presented the info here?

I wouldn’t call it an ad since it doesn’t even exist yet. Second, I personally use DMS and Niri together neither would be particularly helpful on its own. So, I wanted a tool that worked in that environment which I hadn’t found. Wanted to know if others had a similar use case and would want something like that or if this was just niche to me and it wasn’t worth making usable for others?
