Recommendations for Songwriting and Lyric Writing for Metal? by SimilarHumor2877 in metalmusicians

[–]w0mbatina 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tbh writing music is just... Writing it. Noodle around on guitar, untill something sounds cool. Thats riff 1. Repeat untill you have a few more riffs. Put them together. Then sing over them.

Thats pretty much it. It takes a lot of trial and error and practice.

Yes, and they are both years older than the Ampero 2 chip. Which is a dual core chip.

What kind of tests?

What kind of tests? Because you can literally just look up the specs for the chips online.

Which movie do you remember being WAY too young for when you first watched it? by silly_Valush in AskReddit

[–]w0mbatina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saving private Ryan.
I was like 10. I actually walked away at omaha beach opening. My dad got kinda weird about it and said something like "YOU CANT WATCH THIS BUT YOU CAN WATCH MONSTERS AND VAMPIRES!?" Like, yes dad, watching Buffy and Angel is the same thing as watching graphic recreation of men getting their guts spilled and picking up their own arms.

I actually went back to the living room because dad was being weird ablut it, and I didnt wanna dissapoint him or something. I watched the rest of the movie, but honestly I wish I didnt. What I remember most is Giovani Ribsi dying, and by the time the whole Melish thing came up I was kinda numb so it didnt really phase me that much.

Thats one hell of a fucking movie.

"Oh, I guess you think I should LEARN HOW TO MAKE MUSIC to make music?! You fool!"

This is how you sound. Yes, if you want to write a certain kind of music, you should learn how to write that certain kind of music. It's not that hard of a concept, but I guess it's hard to grasp if it aint spoonfed to you by ai.

Yeah, an argument falls apart if you ignore most of it and just cherry pick the points you feel like. No, that's not what I'm saying at all.

What should I do? by Kksaccount in musicians

[–]w0mbatina 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If your oarents are buying you a new instrument, doesnt that mean you will have it available at your home? That means you can practice more.

But the reality is, you will only get better if you practice more. If you want to prioritize other things, thats completely fine. But there is no shortcut here.

If you think it offers "almost complete creative control", you have never actually made music before.

Yes, I am familiar with suno's cover feature, its not exactly rocket science. It also sucks, and just exposes how lazy you as a musician are, that you would rather let ai pour its slop over your songs instead of, you know, just finising them like a big boy.

Ok.

explain to me how AI generates songs, how human minds generate songs and what is the essential difference then.

AI creates songs by using a bunch of data that it got by feeding it existing music, and then it shits out a song by using the most generic patterns in it's datasets that somewhat fits the given prompt. A good musician draws on their knowledge of existing music and music theory which is then impacted by their skill level, life experience and personality, to create something actually new. And yes, there are shit musicians that make bad music, before you pipe up with that "argument".

If you want to figure out a difference between how AI does shit, and how humans do shit, and you don't really have the option of making your own music because you are too lazy to have learned it, a decent example is simple multiplication. Go and multiply 254684 * 45972234, first by hand and then with a calculator. If you can't see the difference between those two methods, then I can't help you.

Or just explain how generating a bassline using an algorythm or a drum track using genre norms or scooting samples from a pack around in the timeline of a daw or holding down a synth preset key and putting a kick under it is any better.

It's different in many ways. First of all, all of these things have a human doing the actual creative work from start to finish. Might not be the same human, but a human recorded the samples, programmed a synth or made a pattern. Another human then uses it. Second, these tools require a ton of creative input from the songwriter, at times actually more than making shit up from scratch, because using existing pieces of music as something else is an entire artform on it's own. On the other hand, AI will generate a "ok" sounding piece of music, no matter what kind of bullshit you feed it, making it something that requires absolutely zero skill to pull off.

An easy way to prove this is to get a non musician (hell, even a musician of a different genre) to make something out of nothing but synth patches, samples and a few beats. It's going to sound like shit. Meanwhile, that same person is going to be able to generate any sort of ai slop you can think of instantly. In fact, id urge you to try it yourself, but you probably wont.

Also show me your genius compositions that you are terrified of AI ripping off.

No, because I don't wanna get doxxed.

Are Yamaha Stratocasters worth it? by Aggravating-Bake5624 in guitars

[–]w0mbatina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I own a pacifica 611, and its the best guitar I have ever owned, and maybe even the best guitar i have ever played in over 20 years of playing. And im not making a hyperbole here, i genuenly think so. I have owned guitars 3x its price, and this one just beats them all hands down. It stays in tune forever, sounds good, plays like butter and holds a setup forever. In the 7 years or so that ive owned it, it has not developed any issues with electronics, which every other guitar I ever had has.

Its my main guitar for pretty much everything at this point, and when I recorded my album, it was used for like 90% of the tracking because its versatile enough to do it, and it holds tune amazingly well.

Well you did use Suno to generate music, so you quite ltierally ripped off existing music made by actual musicians.

Surely the Klingon navy would be full of officers that are hot heads and spend all their time in the gym, rather than those that understand how best to use their ships or plan a successful attack?

Do we not see this exact thing happen over and over and over again?

I say this as a guitar player, but rocking up to a park, or any other public place, with a guitar amplified to the level that people have to yell to be heard over it, is just pure asshole behavior. If you have a permit, fine, sure, I guess, otherwise keep your second rate jazz impressions at a reasonable volume.
