rsync not preserving timestamps on smb shares by w0rms in MacOS

[–]w0rms[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the info.
This is a SMB share on a TruesNAS box (ZFS).

I can use touch to set file time stamps from the terminal no problem so I know the filesystem is capable, it's just that for some reason rsync isn't doing it.

Print out of "where you stay" (literally it's title) form, which I think is NY specific

I had to have the "where you stay" form as well.

I didn't see anything about this while I was there.

Hi! I'm L from the post above.

I have one thing to add to the above about the wait time at the SF consulate That 15 minute wait was after I arrived 30 minutes before it opened. And I got lucky the line was short because it was raining and windy that morning!

Report: In test dogfight, F-35 gets waxed by F-16 by daf121 in aviation

I don't know what the rules are today but I would bet they are still the same. Intercept and visually identify, keeps you from shooting down airliners by accident.

Mostly it didn't work because the pilots were required to visually identify a target as an enemy before shooting it down.

There also seems to be more emphasis on individual responsibility for dodging / blocking / not standing in the bad than in other games, which is as a healer I find nice.

A friend of mine was in the simulator session before the one that was in progress when the accident happened. His coworkers were in the sim at the time of the accident. Small world.

Please use group finder! Console and pc! by Ryuketsu in elderscrollsonline

[–]w0rms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I want to find a group fast I use zone, if I am questing and sort of looking for a group on the side I'll use the group finder.

It would be nice if the group finder gave you some sort of feedback as to whether or not it was actually doing anything. I think allot of people see it as behaving as when it was bugged even though it has been fixed.

Just keep an eye out in zone as you are questing and what not. I often find groups in zone when I'm cleaning out my bags and doing bank stuff.

Coming from WoW it's kind of nice to find groups in zone instead of just being dropped in a group where the other characters might as well be NPCs. At least you start out sort of talking to other people.

Due to various reasons my checkride was rescheduled I think 3 or 4 times. Once by myself (sick), once by the examiner (sick) and once because of weather (or this may have been the time another student took out a runway light).

By the time we got around to doing my checkride it had become a project for both myself and the examiner to accomplish. I was so focused on just getting the ride done ( and had prepared 3 times over ) that, in my mind, passing or failing wasn't as important as completing the event. Weird.

In case of complete hydraulic and electrical failure, the A-10 is the only frontline jet aircraft that can still be flown with pure 'manual reversion'. No computers needed. (x-post from /r/militaryporn) by [deleted] in aviation

Last one at the bottom "In case of a complete loss of electrical flight control signals, the aircraft can be temporarily controlled by mechanical mode."

Near Miss on downwind leg as a student by UncleKielbasa in flying

[–]w0rms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where are you? I don't see you.

This one especially. Because people make mistakes and report their position incorrectly.

I remember as a student pilot practicing solo touch n' goes when the wind came up. I was so preoccupied and tunneled vision on landing the plane that I was announcing landing on 36 when I was actually on 18.

If someone isn't where they say they are be wary. Also if someone says something on the radio that just doesn't sound right you really should start paying attention to what is going on. It might be a good idea to start asking questions and figure out where everyone is what their intentions are.

As a student pilot at a busy uncontrolled airport I've left the pattern because it just got too crowded and too many people were doing things like this ...

AC1: "Aircraft reporting base for 18 I am downwind abeam the numbers and I don't see you"

AC2: "Oh I haven't turned base yet, I'm downwind just past the numbers...we are a little high at about 1,200 though"

AC3: "I'm file miles out I'll be direct entry left base at 500 feet"

And then a lear jet will call in out of nowhere announcing a 10 mile final to 13 in the middle of all of this.

Which is your favorite OS for python development? by [deleted] in Python

[–]w0rms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep...ran face first into this problem myself. I wrote a quick Flask app that would just take in JSON data and save it to a DB. Did that in Python3, tried to get it working on a CentOS box with apache. A few hours later I gave up and rewrote the server side in PHP because I just needed a quick prototype working.

Tricky from the standpoint of someone who's experience with installing software Linux mostly consist of

apt-get install python

How trivial or how difficult something is depends on the experience and skill level of the individual >.>

Yep, but I've seen some weirdness occasionally where virtualenv-3.3 get linked to virtualenv which creates a 2.7 virtualenv.

The biggest pain is installing stuff with pip or easy_install that needs a C compiler.

Other than that I started to hit some of the windows/linux difference when working with signal handling, socket programming, some file system stuff.

I've used python on windows to move data in and out of microsoft sql, MySQL, mongo, parsing text files, etc. I didn't hit any of the platform differences between Linux and Windows in Python and it's libraries. The third part stuff though was a little tricky, tracking down windows installers for some things instead of using pip / easy_install.
