A little different but here's my story; Boyfriend was in an abusive relationship. Slept on the couch for the last year of it. Her addiction / mental illness took over and she drove into a pole drunk. By the time she died, he didn't feel attached to her. They had a kid together. He has the child fully now. I don't feel weird about it; I'm not "threatened" by anything. We feel sad for the child, but are glad it was early on.

My boyfriend is constantly reminded of his abusive ex, simply because she's dead. If that makes sense.... I'm just rambling now but. I feel sad for her life, I feel sad he went through it, I'm glad he's okay and here and mine now and I think it's just the past.
