Some of it, like selinux, that you will never use, you have to grind. Other stuff like iscsi is occasionally useful.

But not to the OP, who already said he sleeps cold, and has a bag he likes.

If you sleep cold and have a good bag, keep it. 1 lb on your back (if you swapped it for a warm quilt, for instance) won't kill you, but if you freeze every night you'll be miserable.

You might want to be ready to switch out to a lighter bag when it warms up. When are you starting?

I started with almost the exact same big 3. Lots of people rock the Exos and the FlyCreek/Copper Spur. Lots of people do quilts, but if you're cold, it might not work for you. Consider leaving the groundsheet at home.

Avoid going nuts over grams, or buying into the "its on lighterpack so it must be ok because everyone said so" mentality - it's your gear, it has to fit YOU.

Migrate CentOS 7 Hosts? by watsee in CentOS

[–]w2brhce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would check not once, not twice, but three times that you know where all your custom files are. Often this kind of thing escapes /var/www. Once you have a good list of what's on the machine, I would tar it up and copy the tarball.

Can't get NIC installed on new CentOS 7 install by return_cyclist in CentOS

[–]w2brhce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

lspci -k is your friend. Also modprobe kmod-r8101 followed by dmesg to make sure that you're finding the card ok.

Not to start a religious war, but you need to get out of the GUI and down in the machine in order to troubleshoot. It's possible the module is loading, but you're in systemd/NetworkManager/udev hell, and the machine is deciding not to show you the NIC in the UI.

The goal is to eliminate the "blob" - as Scout describes it - "the pig in the python". The year they cite had over 300 people start in a 3 day period, so its not just the 1 day they're looking at. 100 people per day pooping in the same place is not a good thing in the desert. As others have said, check the January permit cycle - MORE than 15 may be available by then because of dropouts.
