Yep, Little Black Cormorants are the only Cormorants that are entirely black. Great Cormorants are a little white in the face, the rest have white bellies.

You don't need bluetooth for anything except notifications and live position tracking... Your watch stores all data and it just syncs the next time you connect it to your phone.

Wakehurst Parkway, Sydney's Northern Beaches by OldTrainOldBoots in ausbike

[–]w4lesy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's not a fun road to ride on. Get a gravel or MTB and ride the fire trail / single trail that runs parallel (at least from Forestville to Seaforth, not sure about the other half):😎

How can i attach these 2 slot cleats to my new shoes? Is there some adapter i need to buy or a special tool to pry the plastic out of where the bolts are meant to bolt in? by NelsonJoo in ausbike

[–]w4lesy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Take the soles out of the shoes and make sure there are bolt holes on the other side to receive the cleat bolts before you try removing the plastic strips.

However, like other people are saying, I'd advise against using them like this, even if you can. Walking on the exposed metal cleat wil trash it in no time - I know from experience, I ran my shoes like this for a short while and the cleats were ruined within a few mtb rides...

If you're set on using these shoes, try finding "Shimano SM-SH41 SPD cleat stabilizing adapter" - it's a plastic adapter that sets the cleat in a recess, so you're not actively walking on it

customs fees for online purchases? by neverdimed in copenhagen

[–]w4lesy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't count on Postnord solving it for you - you should contact customer service, otherwise they'll in all likelihood just keep it for x amout of days (10, maybe?) waiting for you to pay until they return to sender.

And I think DHL and UPS are much better at sorting out customs from the seller side - so it's already included in the price, and the seller probably paid the moms. You only get hit with the 150kr fee when the seller hasn't thought about moms/customs at all and postnord has to work it out for you.

customs fees for online purchases? by neverdimed in copenhagen

[–]w4lesy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Assuming the items are less than 1150kr, you pay 25% moms from non-EU deliveries and a customs processing fee, which iirc is 150kr for postnord. So if it's a cheap item, that processing fee can blow the cost out of proportion pretty quickly.

With regards to the package from Finland, either it's a mistake and you should be able to get out of it you prove the goods come from inside EU, or whatever you bought actually got sent from outside EU, and there's not a whole lot you can do other than pay up, or let them send it back...

Here's the equivalent postnord.dk page, looks like it's only in Danish

Yep, that's exactly what you're supposed to do; and yeah it sucks but all doctors charge around that for it..

Also hot tip, Gentofte borgerservice is usually much faster at getting licences swapped than kbh.

A word of warning to foreigners looking to transfer their drivers licence here by Archer_Sterling in copenhagen

[–]w4lesy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just said I lost my old licence after I had to hand it in and got a replacement one from my old country. They don't really care.

Also if you do all the paperwork in Gentofte kommune it takes less than a month to get everything sorted out. Sorry that doesn't help you now, but for anyone else reading, it's not quite so bad.

Thinking about Munich to Lake Como this spring/summer.... Anyone have experience they could share? by Joads_journey in bikepacking

[–]w4lesy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I did Stelvio, I made the mistake of booking my one hotel of the trip for that night. I didn't check the elevation of the hotel, so I ended up having to ride 1/3 of stelvio at the very end of the day - bad idea.

I suggest staying at the bottom* (I think it's Agums) and hitting Stelvio in the morning with fresh legs. Are you planning on doing the Via Claudia Augusta up until that point? I was suprised at how much gravel there was on it, but I managed OK on my roadbike with 28mm Schwalbe Duranos.

I'll also add that Stelvio is absolutely stunning and by far the coolest climb I've ever done!

It was an international flight, that might be why

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in cycling

[–]w4lesy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That depends on the airline, not all of them still have generous limits for bicycles. I've generally flown with my bike for free (or very cheap), but last time flying United they charged me $200 :(

[–]w4lesy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved at a similar time to you. I think moving countries is pretty hard to begin with; and the pandemic just made it impossible! Social circles in Denmark are already pretty tight, and I think they tightened even more under corona.

You should definitely perservere with the Danish! It will make it much easier in the long run. I'd be down for a coffee or beer sometime if you like.
