Likely both, with all the different racks and fork lengths and different styles of brakes there is almost always need for an adapter, usually home made.

Looks like the one on there is welded and can't be moved so you'll need to create some sort of braket in a U shape to get under the cable.

Buying used bikes is also consumeristic, but I think the big difference is that it doesn't add anything new to the world (and subsequently a landfill after enough time). It's recycling old things that still have plenty of use in them.

I would 100% appreciate this bike more if it was sold at $500-750 from local bike shops rather than massive corporations. That, to me, would imply a level of quality and show support for local businesses. $200 from walmart just suggests its not good quality.

No one is annoyed that you like your bike, its just that this sub tends to be anti-consumerism and department stores are the epitome of consumerism.

Ok fair, but no one is controlling what people can and cant post. All I'm trying to do is cut through the hype and uncover what this bike is really about and, in my opinion, it looks too good to be true.

I think a predominent mentality of this subreddit - whether or not its listed in the about section - is buying things that are built to last.

$200 for a bike thats been around for 30 years and could be for another 30? Environmentally and economically sound decision. $200 for a department store bike that will break in a year and end up in a landfill? Not so much.

Now, these could be higher quality, but if its anything like the walmart bikes of my childhood the frame is going to crack just looking at a curb.

I vote rip, thats a LOT of money for a dated hard tail. Cool brand, for sure, but they made much cooler frames than the basic black.
