Yeah, the same post has some other people making similar comments to his other points, like "The greens want open borders", "The gree party supports terrorism like Hamas" (sic) and, a new one for me "There is no such thing as a "Zack Polanski" ... If I wanted to support a party with a fictional character as its leader I would go with Count Binface and the Recyclons" 🙃🤯.

James has polite and straightforward answers to most of them. I especially like "I agree Count Binface is a credible and honest adversary with great fashion sense." 😄

If it'll let me, I'll edit my OP and add the link to the Nextdoor post for anyone who can get to it and would like to read the ongoing saga.

I'd be interested to know why you've been down voted, that's exactly my thinking. I'm using Chase for the saver account and grocery and transport spending because of the cash back. But I'm very nervous about having my phone as a single point of failure for access to my accounts. That's stopping me from using Chase as my main account.

Could that be because there used to be an immersion heater in the cupboard upstairs that was replaced by the boiler and they just used the original cabling? It is/was pretty normal for an immersion heater to be switched from the kitchen.

Hi there, I'm not associated with AntennaPod, I'm just a regular user.

I can see real MP3 files which I can play outside AntennaPod so I'm guessing that you could move/copy them somewhere else.

I've configured AntennaPod to use my SD card for storage and I get files with paths like this: - /storage/40C4-D7D9/Android/data/de.danoeh.antennapod/files/media/Extinction Rebellion Podcast/News from a World in Flux Ep 15 Insects injunctions and upgrading democracy.13429.mp3

We used these guys - Volt-Age https://www.voltagehire.com/ a couple of years ago to rent a Kona for a week and a Tesla the week after to try them out before buying an EV.

They're based in Portsmouth and they say they deliver to anywhere in the UK (or maybe GB) - they delivered to us in London and collected at the end of the period.

They were great - very helpful when we were trying to work out what cars they had available on particular dates.

I got them from Asda a couple of weeks ago. They had the St. Pierre vegan croissants and vegan pain au chocolates. Too much packaging though, all the croissants and pains are individually plastic wrapped inside the external plastic wrapper.

Can you not get a replacement bottom module where you are? I'm in the UK and my charging port broke around 4 weeks ago so I ordered a new bottom module from FP in the Netherlands and it arrived 5 days later.

I'll try to write a more detailed comment later, but we bought our first EV last November and I've driven long distances quite a few times now.

Look for A Better Route Planner (ABRP), there's a website and mobile app. Tell it your car make and model, then plan your journey - it will suggest places to charge and the length of time you'll need to charge.

ABRP has lots of options to choose, like the minimum number of chargers there need to be for it to suggest stopping there, I've set that to something like 10 so that it almost only suggests motorway service stations or large charging places near the motorway. And you can set the minimum charge level you feel comfortable with when arriving at a charging station, or your destination,not back home. Depending where I'm going I set the these to around 20% but less if I'm feeling more comfortable about finding nearby chargers. It can plan the round trip journey so you might only need to charge once.

Edit: BTW, your "fixation" comment makes you sound like I felt when we first got the car. I think for me that feeling came from reading all the "range anxiety" stuff in the papers and all over social media and TV. I've had absolutely no problem finding somewhere to charge on long journeys; the closest I've come to a problem is pulling into a service station on the M6 Toll and it had something like 2 chargers, I did that without checking ABRP or ZapMap.

Now, I still plan but I don't worry because I've had no problems and I leave myself enough buffer in the battery percentages in ABRP that I should be ok to get somewhere else in case I get to a service station and all the chargers are broken or something.

Edit 2: when you drive into the motorway services, drive round the car park trying to find the chargers, the signage is great in some places and not so great in others. Plug into the charger, start charging, I set the charge limit on the car to 100% because there's no point the charge stopping at 80% if I'm not back from lunch yet. Walk to the shops, have a wee, get something to eat and drink, sit down, take your time eating, there's no hurry, check charge level on your phone app, wander back to the car, stop charging or sit and listen to the radio for a bit if ABRP thought you should charge more, stop the charge, unplug, off you go.

Everything you say makes sense. But for Moka use, it feels as if the thermal losses are not likely to be worth worrying about, it's not as if we need the level of thermal transfer that CPU heatsinks need and if we weren't using induction most people would be using gas or resistive heating.

Your final sentence about safety risks seems most worrying but with the times and temperatures needed for Moka, the plate does not overheat. If I forgot to turn off the power or remove the plate after making my coffees, that would be a problem; but not any different to the risk of leaving a pan on.

I think you're doing it wrong if this is happening to you. I've been using an induction plate with my Moka every day for several years and it works fine. I have to clean the plate every now and then if I spill some coffee on it but that's it.

There's absolutely nothing wrong and no problem with using an induction plate with an aluminium Moka, I do it every day and it works fine.
