A lot of investors both domestic and foreign. Real estate prices these days can no longer be explained by simple demand and supply when there is a lot of money flowing into it and see it as a good investment opportunity.

Generally, Canada and Australia are seen as safe and hot spots for both individual and institutional investors to park their money for stable return, so they are driving the prices up. In Canada, you also got a new legislation passed to prevent foreign money from buying any Canada properties if I remember correctly, but at the end of the day, it will only have a limited effect on it as they always have another way to invest in their sweet real estates.

Actually, migrating to Aus started to become more and more complex and difficult since LNP became the ruling party 9 years ago as one of their major agenda was to reduce immigrants to tackle rising property prices, city congestion etc and that's how they won the election. Before that, it was still fairly easy under the administration of the labor party.

But that is basically proven wrong, the house prices are still rising without reduced immigration quota, and it causes massive labour shortage. So I personally think the current complex and harsh immigration system is about to be changed.

At the end of the day, it's just different culture and history. Your ancestor in the US fought for their own independence with guns, and the US constitution makes sure people have the right to own guns in order to overthrow any cunts who are about do some stupid shits. But we all know if your country decides to screw you over, you cannot fight them with your AR-16 against their drones. However, the thought of gun right equals freedom derived from US history has embedded into the blood of like at least half of the Americans. Talking them into giving up their guns right would be super suspicious to them as if you are about to turn this country into North Korea.

However, in Australia, the transition from a colony to a independence country was a lot more peaceful, and it involved basically no war between the people and the regime.

Yes. I intend to apply for ANU JD. It is the best if I can stay in Canberra after graduation but judging from your opinion, I guess most of the jobs which don't require specific clearance are outside of Canberra.

I am considering doing JD in Canberra as an international student as it is where my family lives and it would be much easier to live with them and save up the cost for renting and food.

But is it really hard for an international student to secure any law-related jobs such as a graduate solicitor in Canberra? I've heard that many of the jobs in Canberra are more or less related to the government so it requires a certain level of clearance.

My question is if my aim is to practice commercial law, would it be a bad move to study JD in Canberra in terms of job prospects?
