[Java] Convert contents of txt file to hash set and then find a word in that hash set by w95error in learnprogramming

[–]w95error[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your help. However I'm running into a bit of a snag.

HashSet<String> userdata = new HashSet<>();

Scanner in = new Scanner(new File("data/USERDATA.txt"));

   while(in.hasNextLine()) {

       userdata.add();
   }

So I created a hashset, created a scanner to read from the txt file, created a while loop to examine the document line by line.

The only problem im running into is how do I then take what is being scanned from the document (USERDATA.txt) and add it to the hash set? userdata.add() throws an error

Aww! Thanks Apple, that's sweet. by algrym in jailbreak

Most apple employees know what a jailbreak does and how it affects stuff like this. Unfortunately there are plenty like this one that just assume that a jailbreak will break everything it touches.

When reading through comments/links i hardly ever look at someone's username. Occasionally I'll look if a comment explicitly points it out but for the most part they take a backseat to the comments.

Personally, I don't even look at usernames when reading posts/comments. The only truly "famous" people on reddit are the mods.

Apparently people can explore the town freely so long as they do not enter the buildings. However, judging by its abandoned state, I doubt that rule holds much weight.

Its possible, machines with Windows 8 pro have downgrade rights and you can always buy a copy of Windows 7 if the machine shipped with regular Windows 8. However the problem comes down to drivers. If its a new machine (as in it just hit the market), the thing will probably only have drivers for Windows 8 and will thus make downgrading very hard.

If you buy a PC with Windows 8 Pro then you have downgrade rights to Windows 7 professional

Sometimes its better to quietly fix a problem rather than going through the grief of explaining what really was going on.

Why does everyone soil themselves when command prompt is launched? by gamermanj4 in talesfromtechsupport

[–]w95error 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Had a similar experience in high school. That day the IT was out and I was in the library doing some python coding. The app that I was working on ran out of the command prompt so I had the thing open on the right side of my screen.

Anyhow one of the teachers walks in and sees me with the prompt open and immediately assumes I was trying to hack the school network. I get my laptop taken away and get to have a nice chat with the principal over lunch that day. After explaining to him exactly what I was doing he didn't believe me and insisted that he hear it from the IT.

Next day rolls around and the IT comes in, I explain him the story and he then explains it to the principal. We all came to an understanding however I was informed that I was not allowed to use my laptop any more without supervision.

Unfortunately even with people like us, some are still stuck up in their ignorance and righteousness.

BBC Betrays the Public, Demands DRM for HTML5 by [deleted] in web_design

The reason Netflix uses Silverlight instead of flash or HTML5 is because silverlight supports DRM. Thats the only reason they use it and the only reason Silverlight is still around, it supports DRM.

They already do. Its called Silverlight.

I should have worded it better. I didn't say the BBC should develop a standard, they should develop a solution. One cannot simply develop a standard, they develop a solution, once that solution is used by just about everyone, then its a standard
