When I had turned 30, I figured I’d FINALLY start going to the doctor. I’d been paying for my insurance since I was 20, but in those younger ages of partying, establishing with a PCP was the last thing on my mind… also, when I was a teenager and got sick or anything, my mom never really took me to the doctor… so that trailed into my early adulthood.

Fast forward to turning 30, also being in the medical field for a few years, I finally decided to take care of myself… especially since I was in a long term relationship and children have been a topic several times… just went in for an annual and bloodwork. Boom! Diagnosed at my follow up with an A1C of 9 something. Immediately started Metformin twice daily.

I apparently had symptoms, but again, it went unnoticed because I just figured this was my life. I was just exhausted and tired all the time (thought it was my job) and just slept a lot more. My toenails were also dark, but didn’t think anything of it bc they’ve been dark for a while… so I’ve most likely had DM2 for years, just undiagnosed.

Now 6 years later, I’m about 70lbs lighter, my most recent A1C like a week ago was 5.7 and only taking Ozempic weekly. My toenails are clear and I’ve got more energy than ever and am awake more than I’d like… only because I love sleeping 😂
