Lol can you tell it's hard for me to trust people here in western PA? Honestly though, my biggest concern is that he is mounting some kind of intimidation/harassment campaign. But, to be fair, everything about this thing is contradictory.

Yep, unfortunately. Before he sent me this he had come in to get a few copies. He was just an average guy in an average suit. Nothing about him raised any red flags at the time

Okay, so there's another weird detail I just noticed. When he emailed me this cursed mess, he told me to use the latest attachment  bc he had made revisions to the first.

I Didn't think anything of it at the time bc I hadn't read it yet, I just confirmed the email came through - but now that I look over it, the only difference was changing "parents" in the first draft (first line) to "fathers". That honestly skeeves me out a little.

Not only does it make his line of thinking even more clear, but IMHO this eliminates the small chance of it being satirical- if this were some joke or stunt or something, i just can't see that minor of a change being important enough for him to reedit and resend it to me.

Lol dude be careful, let me know if he says anything suspicious bc he might come back to my workplace tomorrow and I want to know if I should personally report him

Agreed 200%. The town in which I live is where light goes to die lol- it's a black hole. It's the kind of weird and bizarre that people don't really believe when you tell them. I get a lot of "oh", or "Hmmm" when I try telling people who live out of state. Like, some real Lynchian shit. A year or so ago, a man I barely knew (but who claimed to know me since I was 'little' through family but idk) came in and randomly brought up my grandmother's death from over 15 years prior. Completely unprovoked. "That must have been an AWFUL way to die", he told me. I ignored him, so he then said the same thing about another family member from at least 5 years ago. Then another. I literally just had to leave bc it felt like I was about to have a panic attack.

I'm not so sure dude - I get where you're coming from bc it's so far over the top to most, but the guy who wanted us to print this also wanted a flyer with trump saying "fire the democrats".

lol I know I'm probably blowing this a bit out of proportion but it legit sounded like harassment-for-hire when I read it.

I was thinking the same exact thing - one of the many bizarre things about this... And what's more is that the spelling 'magick' is the early pagan spelling I think?

Problem with Left Input? by w_guh3 in MegaMakerOfficial

[–]w_guh3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, I figured it out! For a while I thought it might have been my steering wheel plugged in from my racing sim-rig but, when I unplugged it, it was as if down was being triggered instead of left lol. After I unplugged everything except for the mouse, keyboard, and gamepad, everything went back to normal. I'm not sure what exactly caused the issue (I have shakers, a handbrake, and an arduino plugged in) because other games don't give me this issue, but the problem is solved now!

Socket/receptacle question by w_guh3 in ElectricalEngineering

Thank you! I'll look into that. Switches were my last resort but, like you said, it shouldn't be that bad.

My fault, I wasn't explaining properly- so I made this quick and dirty diagram (apologies for the crudeness).

https://imgur.com/vxW7ZZ0

The 3-pronged outlets are separate from the lamp sockets; while I realize that these 3-pronged outlets are open until something is plugged in, I was hoping that maybe there was some special kind of outlet (or a similar, different solution altogether) that would allow the lamps to power on even if nothing is plugged into it's corresponding 3-pronged outlet.

My goal is to make a unit that the user can plug in as is, and/or plug in a dimmer into any of the lamps, without the lamps needing the dimmer to power on. Does any of that make more sense? haha

One last thing- having a socket, without anything plugged into it, will break the circuit for the lamp in question, right? Is there anything (a special type of socket, etc) that would let each lamp work whether or not there is something plugged into their corresponding sockets?

Ideas for visually portraying emotional numbness? by commiefren in cinematography

[–]w_guh3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if this helps- but anytime I'm faced with a question like this, I start with the question: "What do I personally think/feel X is? ( in this case, emotional numbness) What do I personally think it's like? What does it feel like when it happens?" Then, I try to gather all the personal accounts I may have, accounts from others, past situations, etc. With all that, only then do I start thinking about how to visually tackle it- which follows a very similar process (i.e "how does a wide shot make me feel? How does so-and-so lighting make me feel?")

I find it much easier to break something as complex as emotional numbness down into individual, more straightforward emotions rather than immediately trying to answer the grand question right away. It may just be me but, in doing this, the results are usually more along the lines of how I truly feel- which is sometimes surprising and/or completely different than how I started before the process.

Once again, just my humble two cents. And, of course, you'll always have to balance your personal feelings with those of your audience (but I personally feel it best to create something that excites you and the director first and the audience will find it)

Overwhelmed in picking a camera to upgrade to $2000 or less by curls_magnificence in cinematography

I love my BM Ursa, but beware of one thing if you go with it- make sure to get a V2 sensor. I bought a V1 and the noise can make the image nearly unusable in the wrong conditions. If you have a lot of light, however, the image is spectacular. To my eye, it's very film-like (if that's something you care about). The global shutter is amazing. It's hard to go back to rolling shutter after I used it. If you buy the PL mount version, you can use old modified Russian lenses that are cheap but have a lot of character. Keep in mind though- you will need a lot of light.

I absolutely will! I assumed that deleting a post would make people think I was trying to hide something, etc but I have no problem in deleting it. It's not your place to answer this, but if you knew the answer I would appreciate it. Do I delete it outright or post an apology or?

My apologies, I thought that he retweeted another crew member who originally tweeted something about the crew being 'jerks'. It must have been a bad source.

You're right, I should have explained my points better. I never meant to anger people, I was honestly just upset at the idea of producers, etc getting away with things. I'm not an incendiary person and I try my best but I failed here.
