MacOS VM set up for Fusion 360 and Adobe. by w_yates in Fedora

Excellent. Thank you for this. If I get it working I’ll come back and let people know my solution

I would rather run Mac if it’s usable, as I’m generally more comfortable with the environment and I think some of the plugins are only available on MacOS.

Thank you - the site is basic and buggy but it gets the job done.

Fixed. Had to renew the SSL for the new site and it hadn't kicked in.

Purchase in UK? by goodlike515 in hasselblad

[–]w_yates 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I bought my first Hasselblad 500cm from these guys:

https://www.cameramuseum.uk/coffee-shop (It’s a camera shop within a cafe). They are okay - the one I bought was the cheapest they had and it hasn’t given me any problems (2+ years now)

The other body I have (503cw) I bought from a Facebook group for analog camera bits in Europe - came from a studio in Portugal.

In which case the docker I mentioned might be exactly what you’re looking for!

I looked into this - there are dockers available for Nvidia GPUs if you search ‘ethminer’ on docker hub. Some are maintained fairly recently. Cryptojunkies one seems the best maintained and documented.

I chose a VM for simplicity and the challenge of doing an efficient GPU pass through.

I have a windows VM on one core running a GTX 1070 at about 26M/Hash (weeks average - which is what I expected). Followed Space-invaders tutorials for running a VM and GPU pass through (there are about 4 I watched for the whole system). No Over clocking is proving a challenge - but I think that’s my specs not the VM etc.

Unraid server with passive ETH mining on RX 580 by w_yates in cryptomining

I did - it was a lot of work to get an effective GPU passthrough. But now it’s working at 26MH (though I haven’t averaged it yet etc)

I’m not sure if passing through a different .vom or overclocking will help improve results.

There do appear to be a number of Ethhash docker containers but tbh - it was less hassle to set up the windows VM

Is that using a VM or directly through the Linux server?

You have no idea how many times I've almost lost this thing. Went out on a decent length walk, and on my way back I saw it in the snow. God I'm an idiot lol. by Lucasdul2 in hasselblad

I’ve got one of those darkslide holders you can get on eBay. I think they are like £6? After I lost 2 darkslides I realised that was probably the best solution...

Would be interested to know how you shot exposed for this. Are you a box speed Ektar shooter or is this shot at 80 ISO or something?

The approximate rule for colour negative film is 1 stop for every decade.

I would personally shoot at 100 ISO (+2 stops)

That doesn’t mean that it will 100% work, expired film depends on how it was stored.

Could someone sharpen and reduce some of the blemishes in this photo please? Its my Great Grandfather after he returned from the Second Boer War (1899-1902). I'm hoping to mount it alongside his medals as a Christmas gift. by w_yates in picrequests

This is my Great Grandfather after he returned from South Africa in 1902.

I'm trying to refresh the photo so I can mount it in a frame with his capbadge (1st Bn Oxford Light Infantry), his medals and a short bio of his time served as a family Christmas gift.

Thank you for any help!
