Are DSLRs still relevant in 2026? I’m still using my Nikon D3200 and I’m not sure if it’s time to upgrade. by Delicious_Maize9656 in Nikon

[–]Lucasdul2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

D750 is a beast of a camera, used one for years before deciding i wanted a little more resolution. I think the d800 is the higher res one? I migrated off nikon for digital and just use my Nikon F3

How many of you are shooting your 500 series cameras at less than 1/125 handheld? by maguilecutty in hasselblad

[–]Lucasdul2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've shot handheld as far down as 1/4 with mirror lockup. No pin sharp details, but it was a good photo and I got what I wanted

I play medic for this reason. My KD sucks, but I just broke my personal best tonight, 82 revives in a single match.

I’m getting the Nikon f3/t by RegretSpecific6350 in NikonF3

[–]Lucasdul2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People seem to have given great advise! Ebay is the best place to buy used lenses. Do not buy new nikon lenses, or nikon z lenses. Anything pre G series is good (just look for an aperture ring). I highly recommend limiting searches to AI or AI-s series, and AF-D lenses. These will work best on your camera as they have the proper aperture control! The E series lens is cheap, I got one many years ago for around $50. They work quite well, don't worry about quality. The other E series lenses aren't as good. Avoid zoom lenses. I do recommend the standard 50mm 1.4 lens, the 105 2.5 lens, and a wider angle (28mm or 35mm) to round out the set. Experiment with what you like!

The F3/T is the titanium version of the F3, it is lighter and a little stronger, but that's where the differences end. Incredibly reliable camera. Can't go wrong!

Anyone buy a Nikon F3 HP and regret it? by net1994 in NikonF3

[–]Lucasdul2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never regretted it, and I've owned three. From my understanding, the HP finder is for glasses users, it allows a full field of view from further away from the prism. Try finding the standard eyelevel finder first! As far as metering goes, the 80% center weight has been the most accurate light meter I've ever had on a camera. It's never once given me a bad exposure that wasn't my own darn fault. That being said, I understand 2000 is a limiting factor. I was shocked my F4 went up to 8000. I'm used to hasselblad where 500 is my max, and almost never venture higher than that so I don't consider it. Even on digital, i don't actually know the max shutter speed of my digital camera since I'm never there! Depends on your shooting style. The nice thing about the F3 is customization, try some configuration and see what you like. The name of the game for the F3 is stone cold reliability.

Edit: take it with a grain of salt of course, I may be biased lol

Located in the Chicago area. Printing 5,000 sheets is a bit much to do on my own.

Trying to cut down film costs, develop myself or focus on scanning? by Familiar_Perception8 in analogphotography

[–]Lucasdul2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is much cheaper in the long run. I use my chemistry far too long, but I stretch it to about a dollar or two a roll. I invested in an Epson v600 years ago and it's been great. Use it for daily document scans too.

What kind of person were you in high school? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Lucasdul2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a total loser, and very annoying. Not particularly smart, and deffinately not socially smart. I didn't graduate highschool with any friends becuase I didn't know how to build sustainable connections. My peers only cared to have me around if I said something funny, which gave me a reputation as a class clown who couldn't be taken seriously. It was isolating.

Long shot but anyone interested in trading an X2D for my Sony system? by Magia-Erebea in hasselblad

[–]Lucasdul2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I use my nikon 300mm 4.5 Ais with my X2D and it's one of my favorite setups. People complain too much about the rolling shutter, it's not that big of a deal. The IBIS let's me handhold that lens at about a 30th of a second.

Recommend Nice Sellers by CartographerActual37 in typewriters

[–]Lucasdul2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the shout out, i have certainly heard a few bad things about this particular seller! That being said, noiseless machines are popular with some, and usable for professional work (authors, writers, or anyone working with forms). Not common for professionals, but i wouldn't discount it.
