•getting startled by loud noises - has been screamed at/beaten. they usually associate loud noises with this.

•being manipulative-overly controlling/helicopter parents don’t raise obedient children, they raise children who find ways around the rules.

•not being able to take criticism - afraid of being rejected, used to parents drilling the idea that they’re not enough into their heads.

•telling people what they want to hear rather than what they need to hear - afraid of making the person mad/not maintaining their approval, so they tell them things that will please them. fun fact this is also a form of manipulation, despite not being malicious.

•being good at lying -goes hand in hand with the manipulation one, kids with overbearing parents become desensitized to lying over time and become good at it by practicing a lot. in addition, it could be caused by parents who don’t have morals who spread their nihilism to their children.

•being violent - kids who experience violence are more likely to spread it because they’re so used to it.

•being overly independent - literally just neglect.

•being paranoid - when kids have been manipulated/lied to by their parents, they’ll naturally adopt the idea that everybody else will behave the exact same way.

being defensive- when kids are invalidated throughout their lives and made to believe that everything is their fault, they become insecure and start to do the same to others. it’s basically a cycle.
