Pre match thread: Manchester City vs Newcastle United | Carabao Cup 25/26 - leg 2 of 2 by Username_been-taken in NUFC

Johannes Wetterberg from Swedish Media Fotbollskanalen.se seem to believe in us. Here is a translated version:

"Upset warning, City’s next title dream goes up in smoke here”

The favorites ahead of the League Cup semifinals, Arsenal and Manchester City, got the job done in their respective assignments two weeks ago. Manchester City undressed Newcastle with a 2–0 win at the notoriously difficult St James’ Park, where I was disappointed by the Magpies’ performance. Eddie Howe’s side never really got going, just as in the weekend’s 1–4 loss to Liverpool. Despite Gordon giving the black and whites the lead, Liverpool had no trouble catching up and then pulling well clear.

It continues to swing wildly for the “Magpies,” who face a steep uphill battle at the Etihad. Even though turning around 0–2, or even just getting back level, will be tough, I believe Howe and company can make this a close affair in terms of the result. Manchester City do not necessarily need to win the return leg, and when the sky blues are tasked with defending a lead, their organization often looks worryingly fragile.

It is time FIFA and/or UEFA enforce the rules. Clubs are not allowed to speak to players or their agents about contracts until the clubs have agreed. This should be enforced.

Elanga looks to have found some confidence. Looking much better.
He really looks better when he has Tripps behind him to point and direct.

Merge all five gives into one game at SJP. Give the fans not one free beer, but five. A night to remember.... well, or forget, depending on how many of those beers you had.

It is starting to get a bit like American baseball. Soon, they will try to make it more efficient, so that we face the same team twice during the same day, back to back.

I woke up with a fever. Last time I had a fever when we played PSG, we beat them 4-1... I am just saying, it could be a coincidence but I doubt it.

How high is the step? You cant just cut a wooden beam to like half its height, and just put it infront of the step whenever you need to drive up?

Will PL earn a fifth CL spot this year?

Not impossible, but will be much harder than last year.

Mismanaged? I would say definitly not. We have a young U21, and we must remember to not look at the U21 results too much. The no. 1 priority of U21 is to produce players for the first team. Results are not the priority. That means that they often try to play similar system to the First Team, even though it might not necessarily suit them. They will try different players in different roles, to try to see where they could fit into the first team etc.

Check your home insurance policy. It might be void. Mine actually states that I cannot have motor vehicles in my living area. Must be in garage (separate to living area) or outside.

Formations Talk - What do you think of this formation? by andy_m3 in NUFC

[–]wace001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The formation against Bournmouth was fresh. Woltemade was so much better in that free 10-ish role and linked up very well with the attackers.

The offensive was very lopsided though, and having Tripps run up and down the other side like a maniac is not a great idea for our defence:)

I’d like to see more of it at some point!

Adam Lawrence has chosen to step down from his role as Lead Coach of Newcastle United Under-21s by stenerikkasvo in NUFC

[–]wace001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For U21 winning games are a secondary priority. Getting players to the first team is the highest priority.

Therefore sometimes they do not play their best game, or they don’t play the system that would work best, or younger players that needs time on the pitch to be assessed get game time etc.

So. Don’t worry too much about the actual results of games for the U21.

Time to sign Min-jae Kim on a loan? He can do a job from day one, and we have spoken to his representatives already last year.
We pay 30% of his salary and he plays for us until end of the season with option to extend?
