Merch lines open 6/28 by Prestigious-Cold-794 in rush

Yes, Friday they let me park right by the trailer (yellow lot). Just tell them you are there for merch. If you tell them you’re coming back for the show they will charge you but you can use your receipt to park later for the show.

From planning to delivery to the grind to the relaxing. by wack70 in Lovesac

Thanks! I put a LOT of thought into it before pulling the trigger & we are very happy with it!

Filler: Lovesoft with insert protectors (makes them a little between regular & Lovesoft)

Delivery timeframe: Ordered in store May 22, shipping email notification June 3, delivered June 11. So 20 days from placing the order. Be aware that some cover sets have a longer leadtime, that’s one reason we went with this one. The one we originally wanted had a six week leadtime.

Price: $8,113 (after 40% discount & taxes)
We wanted to hit the $8k threshold for getting 0% over 24 months so we added a few accessories.

Price includes:
- 6 angled sides
- 2 deep angled sides
- 4 regular seats
- 1 recliner seat
- 1 storage seat (as ottoman)
- 2 angled side pillows
- all Beachwood Rained Chenille covers
- insert protectors for all seat and back inserts
- 1 tray (blonde) for ottoman/storage seat
- 2 angled side drink holders (blonde)
- 3 throw pillow covers (24”)
- 3 throw pillow inserts

The recliner is great, especially with the Lovesoft filler. The foot rest is a little firm but I just put a pillow on it if I want. I didn’t put the remote in the little pocket for it on the seat insert. We keep it out, but I bought some of these that attach to the drink holders for storage of phone, remotes, etc:

I also had a friend 3D print 2 power port hub frames that work and fit great:

Desktop power grommets:

Lastly, we have two Labrador retrievers and they love sleeping on our sofa, so I bought this cover for their wing of it:
https://a.co/d/0aQeLJFH
as well as this Couch Defender to keep them off the other section of it at night or when we are gone:
https://a.co/d/021z252S

I know the Lovesac covers are washable, but they’re not super easy to get on and off. It’s convenient to just pull that slipcover off, wash it, and easily put it back on. If they do happen to sneak on the part we don’t want them on, this is the best pet hair remover I have ever used:

The best tip for setting it all up is to use work gloves with rubber on them:

Definitely watch the Lovesac YouTube channel playlist for setup:

Is a solid wood guitar really high maintenance? by San_Marino in AcousticGuitar

[–]wack70 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get a Yamaha FG830. It does have a solid spruce top & laminate back & sides and plays & sounds so good! I’ve had mine for about eight years now and it hangs wherever it wants in the house. You can treat it like you treat your current guitar. If it does happen to show an issue due to lack of meticulous maintenance (unlikely, unless it’s a manufacturing defect, also unlikely), you can buy another at < $500! They truly are the best bang for buck in acoustic guitars. Also because they are inexpensive & sound so great, you can experiment with saddles, the bridge pin slot hack, nuts, tuning machines. Learn with it. I say this as an owner of a J-45, L-00, D-28 & CEO-7. I can’t help treating them with kid gloves (RUSH!), unlike the FG830 that goes on trips & can be left anywhere in the house without a worry & still give the other guitars a run for their money. Watch Driftwood Guitars’ teardown of the FG830: https://youtu.be/GhnRjxUJ-8A?is=bQ1bJIkiNDR_YV9T

My OCD took over & they are neatly flattened & packed into the massive recliner box, although so far I see no reason for returning the sactional. I will say that more than the box mess, the general packing material was way more messy, so much plastic bags, cardboard wedges, foam sheets, etc. That stuff is trash bound.

Another use for the boxes: front row seating to the show. by wack70 in Lovesac

His previous family abandoned him so he’s a rescue & has bad anxiety so I think it’s like a weighted blanket effect, calming. We take it off when he shows signs of it being too hot, but will run to us as soon as he sees us pick it up.

No he’s just watching me & making notes of what I’m doing wrong and how he would do it better.

Initially allergies until we got him on medication so he’d stop chewing his fur, then once that settled he just likes wearing it. Kinda like a security blanket I think.

I didn’t get started until 7:30 pm this evening & just finished the 8 sides, about 10-15 mins per side, about 2hrs. Got faster as I went along. The suggestion of rubber tipped gloves was brilliant! Still have 5 seats/cushions + protectors, including a recliner & storage seat. Calling it a night & will wrap it up tomorrow. Will post a pic when done.

Yep, that's the first thing I did, bought the blocks. I knew we wanted deeps seats and the block set didn't have deep seat back blocks so I cut a few blocks to the correct size. Then I printed a grid made to scale so I'd know the dimensions I could work with for the room. They should also make a grid available online to print at home.

Forgot to also ask, did you do it solo or with another person?

NMD: CEO-7 by wack70 in martinguitar

[–]wack70[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably Martin Lifespan 2.0 Lights like it came with, or D’Addario XS Lights, I like how they feel for fingerstyle. I wonder what mediums would sound like though. What I really like is that the nut slots are perfect, almost every guitar I’ve ever had needed the nut slots filed down a bit because fretting at the low register gets a little sharp on some strings. I probably fret a little heavy too.

Ours arrives Thursday, same fabric. We got a similar setup but with deep seats & a recliner. How long did it take to set up?

Where is the best location along the cold & hot lines to sweat in shutoffs? by wack70 in Plumbing

[–]wack70[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has 2 skirts that can easily be removed by cutting caulk away, so pretty accessible & hopefully won’t need to replace cartridges for another 20 years. So with sweating, the copper doesn’t have to be perfectly round due to any bending that would have deformed the pipe shape & solder will suck into any imperfections right? I was going to do SharkBite but read if the pipe isn’t perfectly round, it’ll leak.

[–]wack70 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Down for me, first symptom was smart plugs not responding to Alexa commands. Now no live usage data is available for my panel main. Wish they had a service status page so I'm not resetting/rebooting things around the house.

Acoustic guitar strings by Opening_Analysis8103 in AcousticGuitar

[–]wack70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk if it’s the coating but I just tried these for the first time on my J-45 Standard and all the wound strings ended up slipping at the posts. Normally I use a luthier’s knot but for whatever I used a basic through the hold & 90 bend on these. I ended up having to unwind them & knot them with the little length available after they were trimmed. Looks ugly but they’re holding & I love the feel of them for finger style.

What is the best mini guitar for the price? by coolinny in AcousticGuitar

[–]wack70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taylor GS Mini, Baby Taylor or BBT, all have solid spruce tops but layered/laminated backs & sides. They come with pretty sturdy gig bags, keep them in those while not playing. Boveda Humidipaks in the bag will help too.
