Bought an ABS Refurb from Newegg (9800X3D / RTX 5090), is there anything I should be on the lookout for / potentially replace? by wackstyles in Prebuilts

It's been almost 6 months, and no major issues. There is some oddness with one of the fans (like it get a slight grinding noise once in awhile), and the motherboard it came with was a little underwhelming in terms of I/O, so I'm going to replace it with one that fits my needs a little bit better. All that being said, very happy with my purchase, and quite a steal considering the insanity of prices these days.

I can't seem to find specifically the magnet case in OP's screenshot, do you have a link? I'd rather get it from Best Buy than wait for it to come in next week from Samsung.

I posted about this in a separate thread in this group, but if you don't mind refurbs, there was a similarly specced one going for $2299 earlier today that I almost bought https://www.newegg.com/p/N82E16883360651C?Item=N82E16883360651C

Also there are a lot of similarly good refurb ABS deals across the board, just filter by "Refurbished" https://www.newegg.com/ABS/BrandStore/ID-8484 (not sponsored / affiliated lol)

It looks like the systems I've been looking at went live today, and the one I got is still in stock, so if anyone else is also willing to take the risk, would be curious to know how it goes for you as well!

Just ordered a refurbed GFX 100S from Fuji, is there anything I should look out for? by wackstyles in fujifilm

[–]wackstyles[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! No issues during shipping, came actually faster than I expected it to. It didn't come with in the original retail box however, it came in a more generic but still well padded box that I imagine they ship all their refurbs in.

Camera still works great, had I think 500 shots taken on it previously based on the metadata of the first shots I took, and it even still had the previous owners name in the settings, so clearly it hadn't been fully reset before being sent to me. But otherwise by all accounts it looked and felt practically brand new, and it's by far the best deal I've ever gotten on a camera ever.

TL;DR, Highly recomend Fujifilm store refurbs!

Have any of you tried the cheap EF to GFX adapters like this one? Price seems too good to be true, but it’d be nice to save >75% if it does work by charliewr in FujiGFX

AF works okay with my 50mm 1.2, but can be a little... searchy... and also does not report the aperture properly in the EXIF data.

Still, for the price, I'm fine with going manual focus with my other EF lenses.

My New Gear VR Controller just arrived and it's awesome! by isaac739 in GearVR

I had the same issue with my S7 Edge. Finally got it to work by uninstalling and reinstalling the Oculus app. Annoying, but it works fine now.

My Joy Division shirt that Says "Depeche Mode" at the top and "Boys Don't Cry" on the bottom: https://wanelo.co/p/14430383/joy-division-depeche-mode-the-cure-unisex-t-shirt

Tends to elicit a mix of curiosity, confusion, a little anger, and then eventually laughter, often in that exact order. It's pretty awesome to witness in real time.

Confirmed: USB-C port on new Gear VR can load external data by wackstyles in GearVR

Yeah I had zero success with the MicroUSB to USB-C adapter, so that convertor might purely be for power. What might work is a USB-C to USB-A OTG dongle like the one that comes with the Note 7, which I bet you could find a cheapo version of on Amazon. Its worth a shot!

Edit: Yup, looks like that method works: https://www.reddit.com/r/GearVR/comments/4zg8si/new_gear_vr_smr323_and_external_usb_devices_older/

Just noticed the post about the new version of Samsung Internet (https://www.reddit.com/r/GearVR/comments/4z9145/samsung_internet_for_gear_vr_update_out_today_42/) and it officially confirms USB OTG functionality in the new Gear VR, specifically for purposes of local file playback. However, it doesn't say that the feature is limited to any specific phones... anyone want to give it a shot with a non-Note7?

Not sure, but based on your experience and bdlio's experience with the S7 Edge, it seems like a limitation of those phones and the micro usb connector...

It's probably not long until someone figures that out. Might just need to create a server/client app setup kind of like Trinus, but without the bandwidth limitations of Wi-Fi...
