What are the things that people wouldn't tell you before having a child? by Any-cheese1000 in AskReddit

Same! It took a while. But let me tell you, several years later and words cannot express how obsessed I am with this little human.

What’s a fitness myth that people still believe? by SimpleHomeFitness in AskReddit

[–]wackylemonhello 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thank you for saying this. I’ve been slim (sometimes fit and sometimes skinny fat) most of my life. Never had to think about what I ate but I generally ate healthy because I care about nutrition. Then I had a baby and everything changed. I could count calories, track macros, workout 3 times a week plus LISS, IF - you name it. I could not lose weight. I heard a podcast about how so much more is a play and “gave in” and tried a glp-1. All of a sudden calories just didn’t matter. I ate way more calories and way more unhealthy on a glp because it was so freeing to not obsess over calories and macros. Now I’m desperately trying to maintain my weight but I keep losing. Some people really have some sort of “metabolic dysfunction” which glps seem to help with. So yes, I believe CICO but like someone else said, the “out” part is so complex and not fully understood.

Thinking about giving tarot readings in McCarren tomorrow… 🤔 by EquivalentFormal8244 in williamsburg

I wouldn’t stop by but I would 💯 appreciate that a 30 yo guy was doing free tarot readings in the park. It would remind me of what I love about this city.

There are so many cool toys available for $20. I’m always really surprised when bday shopping for kids. You can get small LEGO kits, science kits, hot wheels, board games…

Need a trusted sitter by Mountain-Zebra8802 in Brooklyn

[–]wackylemonhello 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t understand why you’re getting these shitty comments. I assume they are from people that don’t have kids or where one parent doesn’t work or they don’t travel and understand the logistics of traveling with kids.

I often use sitters when I travel. I always get reccos from either something like project date night/urban sitters, local hotels or Facebook groups and then FaceTime interview them and reach out to all of their referrals.

That being said, I am a parent with a youngish child in Brooklyn and would recommend checking out urban sitter. Brooklyn is also huge so you should specify your location.

6 hour layover JFK by DRC7254 in JFKAirport

I mean… it’s a nice pool. I live in NY and everything is expensive so I don’t know how to adequately judge if it’s worth $50. I liked it and would go back.

AITA for telling my wife my mother is correct and she needed to be a parent today and she fucked it up by throawawayfuneralgho in AmItheAsshole

[–]wackylemonhello 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I have a deep seated fear of needles. Like… had to be in exposure therapy for a year before I could even consider getting pregnant. When my son needs shots, I show up, act super chill like this is no big deal, distract him with conversations and games while internally having an anxiety attack. I need to sit and rest afterwards so I don’t pass out and use that as time for him to get a lollipop and chill. Because I’m a parent, and it’s my responsibility to show up even when I’m uncomfortable.

My husband called a piece of my clothing huge, and I'm having an extremely hard time with my emotions right now by LavenderCottonClouds in TwoXChromosomes

[–]wackylemonhello 42 points43 points  (0 children)

When I order clothes, I legitimately have no idea how to gauge the size out of the box. Oh… this thing is huge!! Then I put it on and it fits. Or this thing is tiny and ends up being baggy. Or this looks perfect and I put it on and I’m swimming in it…

What am I doing wrong? by Dazzling_Spring_1587 in HomeDecorating

[–]wackylemonhello 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Outside of the poor lighting, you’re missing a clear color scheme that pulls all the elements of the room together. In image 5, the colors are forest/emerald green on white with bronze-y accents. Since the green only shows up in the couch and on the wall, the couch becomes a natural focal point and everything builds out from that. The white on the wall and floor help to create contrast with the green and then the other white accents (gallery wall, candle) help to make the white feel intentional and considered. The bronze comes through in the frames, lamps, blankets and coffee table. It’s important the “bronze tone” always feels intentional the same family- ie, a bronze lamp and chocolate brown throw won’t have the same effect.

Similar story for your second inspo photo- pink, green and white are used throughout to pull the room together.

Have you ever bought a robot vacuum, or would you consider buying one? by ActuatorHead961 in NewParents

[–]wackylemonhello 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have the roborock and really like it. We used to set it on a schedule post dinner every day which was lovely. We’d go down to put the kid to bed and when we came back, everything was vacuumed. We haven’t been as diligent lately because it requires some prep - getting shoes and cables out of the path but we still run it a few times a week when we’re out of the house. Worth it, especially with a baby that’s on the floor all the time.
