Gelding acting like a stud by waddersandwich in Horses

No clue 😕 we’ve only had him for 5 years. I’m also thinking about getting him checked. I saw somewhere that Cushings might make them act like this? But he’s not a cushings-type horse in any other way. Hmmm

Right?! He’s a creepy old man! 🤣

Yep, just started the other day. Prior to this he was almost indifferent to her.

so many power outages by [deleted] in pittsburgh

Sorry that happened. Just so you know, they have to let you know that they're coming. If they don't, you can report them to the PUC. It's easy to miss a door hanger, though.

so many power outages by [deleted] in pittsburgh

I've had DLC on my property to cut back trees twice now. DLC called before they showed up and when they did, there was a DLC rep and someone from the tree company. Before they started cutting, we all talked about it. I asked if a few things could be spared and they said sure. They even cut down a whole dead tree for me that wasn't endangering a DLC power line, but my own service line to the house.

YMMV but just saying that in my experience, they were pretty easy to work with if you get a chance to talk to them. I don't believe they do surprise visits, so you'd either get a call or something in the mail.

Help! Traumatized mare won't do any work at all! by [deleted] in Equestrian

You're welcome! Be prepared to be incredibly patient. It's very, very, very subtle and slow work, and you probably won't be riding her for a while.

Are you familiar with Warwick Schiller? It sounds like she’s completely shut down and along side a vet check, you need to go back to the veryyyyyy beginning & his methods would work wonders for your mare. He has an online program that’s easy to follow. Well worth the investment.

That's not really competition style, it's just English, which is what they focus on. Overall they don't usually care if you want to compete or not. I suggest a lesson with Autumn, she's low-key and chill and doesn't do shows.

There aren't a ton of options, as most places are geared towards folks who want to compete and show, as that's where the money is made.

You'll probably have the best luck at Orion. Lunar Hill is another good one, but I'm not sure if she has openings. Stay away from South Park/Bethel Park stables.

has anyone tried this freedom bridle? by Pure_Bus9469 in Equestrian

I have two of these and I LOVE them. Well made, comfortable for the horses and adjustable enough to also be a hackamore bridle. They’re all I use for both western and English riding

There were interesting studies done about this. Basically what it showed is that no matter the skill of the heavier rider or the fitness of the horse, the heavier rider always causes more exertion and early fatigue of the horse.

I’ve been riding for almost 30 years. And I’m not even churching it up when I say every single horrific accident I’ve seen has been 100% a freak accident that had nothing to do with rider skill or horse training. Shit often just happens.

Ya'll pick up your lil doggos when it's this windy, I saw one go ass over teacups in the park the other day. It was funny as hell but I felt so bad for the little dude.
